Have the AI Focus More on build Archer/Missle Units

If the ai would build more archer/missle units then it wouldn't so often fall prey to the first strike in melee advantage humans take. Also if the AI is the defender force the human player to move forward not the ai unless the human player has an abundance of missle/archer units. It should be known to the ai the missle/melee advantage the human player has when the combat sequence begins. So roughly a preliminary battle should be played out in the ai's head (like wargames before the Normandy invasion) and given at least 3 choices on how to fight the battle out in the best advantage of he ai.

Well said. Since the AI always just charges forward, I can always position my units so that I'll be hitting first. When defending, the AI should go for defensive terrain or some other benefit, not charge mindlessly forward if there's no reason for it because of archery / abilities.

Well hopefully they will see this and think about it. Sometimes I feel like I'm playing against my lil brother in 52 card pickup. ;))

You feel like your playing your lil brother?  What a troll.  Hey, pathetic boy, SD created a great game so if you don't know how to actually get the best value out of it please don't go around trolling and smearing a great game!

Tard.

With all this said, having overpowered mace/hammer weapons that trump anything else at same tech level doesn't help either.

It's not archers that would help, you could just build your own archers and slaughter the AI's on the attack. What it could use is some planning, at the moment it's tactics seem to be limited to beelining for a given unit. It'd be nice to see it understand numbers, so when outnumbered it would head to the +defence squares, when it outnumbers you then maybe swarm the weak units ahead in the hope you spend so much time whacking them it's big hitters get to charge and attack next turn.

Yeah, I've seen the AI build several archers squads in an army before, it doesn't help them at all, just like how they have vigilant demons even on kingdom sovereigns. All that happens is that the player will shoot them first then mop the melees afterwards. Even if you get them to stop using melees altogether, the first strike is just too dominant right now that they wouldn't be able to come out on top in the end.

What I love is if you have a bunch of summoned Giants, the AI will of course try to go around them, but if you spread them out, put them in a line but a space between each one, the AI will try to go /through/ them.

What I -hate- is the screwed up initial deployments.  For some reason, when you have a lot of units, especially in city defense, a number of your units will be by themselves right next to the enemy, AND several of your units will be plopped on the same square. :(  I have to learn to move all my heroes out of a city first or they get clobbered.
