Can someone give me an example. I don't think I have ever seen one.

You never saw a cutscene?????

When you invade a system you see some ships flying around...

AND when you colonize your first planet you see the colony ship landing (you should definitely know this one...)

Well at least you don't have to put up with tantalizing glimpses of them- MY cutscenes play, but all choppy.

Strangely, the starting and ending movies DO NOT chop.

Wierd o_O.

Sephlock: I know  that if you're running a lower-end comp with win9x, the bink drivers have a harder time pumping out the movies. If you're machine specs are around 600mhz with 98 or ME running, you'll get some choppiness on the in-game cuts.

Goonies: Did you download the game or purchase it at the store.  If you DL-ed it, you'll have to make sure the Multi-Media pack properly installed, otherwise you'll just get still images.

I love GalCiv, but I must state that my number one gripe is the lack of quality cut scences. Alpha Centauri possesed the best cutscenes I have ever seen in a game (and I have played plenty).

At least they nailed the gameplay.

There was a dicussion of this earlier -- and it seems to have come down to expense. Quite honestly, I think the richness of features and personality of the game make up for the lack of advanced graphics.

While this isn't the case while Blizzard games, too many other companies try to substitute fancy cutscenes and 3-D graphics instead of being a good UI. (If you remember the first Warcraft game, the interface was great but the cutscenes were fairly limited).

I'm glad Stardock did it right. Maybe when they are as wildly successful as Blizzard we'll get the fancy cutscenes. They seem to be good at generating a backstory.

I really enjoy the game and appreciate all that the development team got right, but I guess I wanted my cake and frosting. Given a choice, I will stick with what we have now.
