well the truth is it does work, but what your dreams were for this game and what was delivered is probably different.

This is not a deep strategy game in any way, its not close to civ, aow or mom.

but its simple and fun for a awhile for me it will not replace or reaming on my computer for that long unless theres a serious overhaul

Personally i am happy with the game and as advertised, the game delivers.

Then contact Stardock and request for a refund.

Actually you went to ford and you expected it to drive like a mercedes and have all the same bells and whistles. Then they gave you a ford and your going crap thats not what I wanted. But your ford has the potential to turn into that merecdes

I totaly agree, if you bought an MMO and it wasn't complete you would be like "WTF?" and the devs would be like "patches!" and you would be like "NO! I want to play with no patches!" and the devs would be like "OMG" and "Facepalm!" and you would be like "OMG" and "WTF?".

So it stands to reason that you would expect it to work out of the box.

If this wasn't a Stardock game, I'd be a little concerned about some of the flaws (documentation, AI), but they have an excellent track record of working on and improving their own titles, which is something I can say only about a few other studios and publishers.

I'd agree that software needs to be allowed to get returned if it doesn't meet the buyer's expectations, just like any other product. But this isn't related to Elemental in particular, it's just a view I have been voicing for years now. The customer should not have to take 100% of the risk or resort to illegal alternatives when there is no demo (and demos don't always reflect on the actual product).

Anyway, with Elemental you can at least be sure that you won't be left sitting with a dud, like with so many other games from other developers. This is why I buy Stardock's stuff.

Well you have the advantage of being around Stardock for a bit, based on your member number, the OP does not based on that member number. It's not reasonable to expect people just being introduced to Stardock through Elemental to expect to get anything but the shafting they usually get from other companies.

Unless this is one of those beta/pre-order purchases, I don't see why the OP can't just get a refund, something unique from Stardock in this industry.

Actually, bad analogy. Automakers do that with every new release. They call em recalls!

Recalls = Patches but with a recall you have the hassle of taking it to the dealership and leaving the car for what could be a long time. To me, Elemental is already a good game. Just needs some more patching to be done.

I'm not going to pretend the game was shipped in what I consider to be an acceptable state...with that said the actual game is fun and holds a huge amount of promise.  I also have a great deal of confidence Stardock genuinely cares about their games and the game will be fixed very soon, and in reality the 1.05 patch already helped greatly.

The point?  Chill out and stop being so reactionary.  You weren't ripped off...

You're right about one thing it's not close to AOW it's BETTER! ;)) Plus I'm bored of CIV so it's BETTER than that also. As for MoM well it will take some time to dethrone MOM but it will get there I'm sure.
