1.05, ATI 10.7, 32bit Win7, OOM error. Anyone else?!?!

Got 1.05 update last night. Fired up my latest game and played for about an hour and then the game just stopped. After closing the game via Task Manager, I see the dreaded "Out of Memory" staring at me. I shut things down and went to bed.

Is anyone else seeing this with Win7 and updated ATI drivers? I will test on my 64bit machine tonight after a driver update.

Another new glitch is Impulse spinning its little hamster wheel for a long time trying to update. Under download size it says "Calculating..". Last night that was 15-20 minutes followed by another lengthy pause before downloading. Is this just a function of server load? Is there another issue?

Thanks.

I also got ATI 10.7 and Win7 x64.

Was playing along fine when suddenly the game froze. I alt tabbed out to find a OOM message. At that point the mem usage was around 1500mb.

Lets hope for a x64 binary for the game soon, the days of 32 bit gaming is dead :P

Same:

Ati HD 4800 GPU + Catalyst 10.7

Vista 64 bit

6 GB RAM
i7 CPU

Elemental is the only game that has triggered an out of memory error for me. I don't think they should be putting this on ATI, there is something wrong with the game.

also me, just posted my latest oom at turn 140, which is better than previous which varied from 30 to 100 turns before oom).

my thought is that it is an interaction between ati drivers & elemental, but I also have not had any other programs memcrash on my game beast(b3), which suggests it might be a issue for stardock to look at.

in testing on other of my computers I also have been having OOMs even on winxp 32bit with nvidia(typical oom error point is approx turn 270), but I admit that I like to play LARGE maps, which could be a factor, but as start of game ram use is only 600mb -700mb on both xp & win7 the main point seems to be to do with the point that 64bit windows allocates TWICE the ram upon each memory allocation request compared to 32bit windows and that the ram use rerely drops during the game, it usually increases

unfortunatly I do not have any spare nvidia's that I could put in the beast to test this theory

Catalyst 10.8 is out today--please give it a try and let us know if it helps (ATI users).

Will do. I had a crash that wasn't an OOM, but went more along the lines of I alt-tabbed, came back and a bunch of my textures were missing (but still playable, although Jenkus or whatever was a black outline and spell effects were invisible).  I alt-tabbed again to force a refresh of my textures and when I went back in it crashed with a DX null reference.  I was on Catalyst 10.7, so I'll give 10.8 a shot.

I have Windows7   64bit... but a Nvidia card...

No crashes or big errors. Just some ai issues.

Probably have alreayd done this but check all your drivers (sound and graphics,etc..)

And also maybe use CC Cleaner and a defrag program to make sure you comp is nice and clean.
