Box Game + Game day Patch Complaint

I just got the game from amazon, installed it which took about an hour.   Start the game and need to get an update which is perfectly fine.

But the update is basically downloading the whole bloody game again!!!  1.87GB   WTF?!?  There is no option to only get an update, I have to download and install it a 2nd time? 

-10 points for the extremely poor implementation.  Can't comment on the game which I'm eager to play because I have to perform a 2nd damn installation.

Game day patch isn't up yet. This was a mid-release patch that was uploaded yesterday. The game day patch is coming "this evening" according to Frogboy

Hmm. 1.87GB?

That seems high.  It should be like 150MB.  Will check on that.

regardless, his complaint is valid, the other stardock games don't make you redownload the whole game on a patch, I would guess that somethign funky is going on and support can straighten the issue out.

Sounds like it's not detecting the game properly. Tried hitting "Detect Application" in the blue Impulse menu and selecting the game and the directory?

Yes but if you bought a box copy of the game instead of a digital copy,the impulse client does not recognize that the game has already been installed.

Meaning the DVD in the box copy is useless! You still need to download the damn game all over again.

Ahhh found it .   Thanks GreenReaper.   Now its finding the game and allowing me to download the update only.

 

FYI, you might want to actually name that first Icon Menu or something that stands out.  I saw all the other icons "Explore, ImpulseTV etc".   The last time I checked out Impulse was when I purchased Demigods so I'm not familiar with the Impulse Client.  And I'm pretty sure there are lots of people buying the box game who will run into the problem I encountered.

Technically the game is 2.something gigs. So you aren't downloading the WHOLE game :p
