Weapon/armor comparison stats in shops

Is there a way to view comparison stats in shops? For example, 'broadsword gives +2 over your current weapon'. Also, is there a way to tell which weapons are equippable on a given character from within the shop?

Well, I'd agree saying that a comparison view would be a very good idea...
