Date for a Swedish release?

I can not find any information on a Swedish release. Will you release a retail version of this game in Sweden? If so, when? I noticed that you had GameStop as a listed retailer, so I went over there and had a chat with them. The employee had never heard of the game, and they did not even have it listed in their database of upcoming releases.

Is my only option one of digital downloading? If so, will there be any additional digital download venues, such as Steam? Any information on the subject would be extremely helpful.

We will not be doing Euro retail; see this journal for more details. You will need to order DD/box direct or get the box via an importer.

IIRC they said there wouldn't be a retail release in Europe, so at least at the moment the only option is to digitally download (although you can get a hardcopy shipped to you via Impulse too, but you'll need to add in $10 postage) or see if you can get it imported (Amazon might be a good bet).

Use Impulse for DD. Since they're charging dollars you actually get it alot cheaper then you would a european retail version too!

No nails left. It's 5PM here....COME ON!!!

All right, thank you for the quick response.

I glanced through some import options, which would turn out to become very expensive, and not really an option. Any chance of getting the game on Steam in the future? I am not really a fan of using a multitude of DD venues, and would rather stick to just using Steam due to several reason. The quality of their service simply is pristine in comparison to any alternative I have ever seen.

I bit the sour apple, and ordered the limited edition box through Stardock, and I do agree it was quite costly getting it shipped to Denmark. :/

Steam and Stardock are competitors in the DD market they both carry games from 3 parties but it is unlikely you will see elemental on steam any time soon..

It will not be coming to Steam.  As Kryo mentioned, it would be recommended to download from Impulse since retail won't be available in your region.

The chance of Elton John to confess that he is indeed straight is bigger than Elemental ever to be available on Steam. Steam and Impulse are in direct competition, with Impulse being the distributive arm of Stardock, the developer of this game. I am sorry, but if you want to buy this game you either have to import it or to buy it digitally from Impulse.

Okay, that is a shame. I might just have to sit out on this one, then. The lack of a retail option or a solid digital download is a deal breaker, I am afraid. Too bad, it looked like a pretty awesome game.

Still, I wish you best of luck with the release, and hope you will offer additional venues of distribution in the future.

If I may ask, how is the digital download option not solid? It's quite reliable, cheap and in contrast to Steam you are able to archive the game on your hard drive.

"Solid digital download" = Steam? Without even trying anything else? Then again, I've never gotten monotheism either.

Besides, it's not as if my apple tree bore TBSes this season.

Zehiir, your choice, but I guarantee Impulse is as solid as Steam. I buy loads of games from Steam but when I have the option I pick Impulse instead. Partly because it's often cheaper, but mostly because Stardock is one of the best developers out there, and of course they cannot sell their games via Steam since it's a competitor to Impulse.

Din förlust.

I do not like digital downloads one bit. The only reason I can accept using Steam when there are no retail alternatives is that it is huge. The community is large enough that I feel confident in that an eventual problem will be solved, if not by their own support team, by someone in the community. I have used a couple of other digital download systems on occasion, and found the experience horrible. At this point I have no desire to try Impulse, I am not convinced that the service is good enough. Stardock does not get a  customer, I do not get the game I want. Everybody loses.

Stardock has been in the digital distribution game (no pun intended) for quite a while.  Impulse has a user-base of millions, and it is quite a strong platform.  I would recommend giving it a shot.

Even if the boxed copy was in retail in Europe you would still need to use Impulse for installing patches.

You can be pretty sure that if there were any issues with the download system then they would be fixed pretty quickly as every single Elemental customer who will be installing updates will be using Impulse regardless of how they purchased it (retail vs online).

I can relate to not liking digital downloads, I was the same way. Steam actually made me get over it. Well, I hope for your sake you manage to get a hold of a copy of the game somehow, if not now then maybe at a later date when buying a retail copy is affordable.

I see your set on on not getting Impulse, and I agree. Everybody looses that way.

As much as I understand your reservation concerning digital downloads, I have the feeling you don't know much about Stardock then. Well, it's your decision (and loss).

Fair enough. The treatment I have received from Stardock in this thread during this brief time has convinced me that you do in fact deserve a chance. Thank you for your time and assistance.
