Is this game ready for primetime?

Just two questions.. is this game fun and is it ready for primetime?  I don't want to spend money on the game if it is going to turn into another demigod fiasco.  That game was so botched up from the beginning.   I do however, respect stardock/frogboy immensely for always being in the community and speaking with us.  This is the only reason I am a stardock fan.  Let me know if I need to wait a while before I purchase this game.

*pulls out his day 0 patched version of the game and sees* OH RIGHT.... considering the only people have played the gold version of the game is stardock and even brad says the day 0 version will be much different and better. Your question is akin to asking a vegetarian what the new angus burger at burger king tastes like...

No one here can tell you, since no one except internal beta testing team and the developers have played the final version of the game. You have to wait until after release and read up on some reviews by day 0 customers.

The game is good, but everything can be better :-). Nothing hold you from waiting till release, and then get an insight on a game frome reviews and forums. I am sure, there are going to be different opinions here, and everyone has a different taste. Also, noobody saw a finished product yet, so it is really hard to say. And if you want to know, how is the beta, there are videos on youtube, so check them out, and you will see :-)

Why not wait for release and check the forums a couple of weeks after it? There will be many trolls bashing the game like if it was the worse thing ever (and fanboys claiming the contrary). But some good filtering should give you some idea of what's really going on.

And there will be the "odd" :P person in the middle, who is neither a troll or a fanboy. ;-)

Best regards,
Steven.

I would wait. I have a gut feeling the release version of the game will not be very good, and it will be up to Stardock to make the next move. Make your decision based on that. :)

I have a pre-order and have played every beta as its been released so yes, I do know what I'm talking about. And since I'm only giving my opinion it would be pretty hard for me to be wrong.

Well none of us really know for sure, we are just giving our impressions (preferably without insulting people). I'm not sure if I'm quite as skeptical as Jareneko is, but certainly there are enough warning signs that advising someone who is unsure to wait a bit before picking it up is quite reasonable.

You are giving your opinion on outdated versions of the game. Its like saying Hmm I ate a banana last year and it was bad, so thusly all future banana's will be bad. You are entitled to your opinion, but your logic sucks.

No being skeptical and advising someone to wait is actually perfectly logical in some ways. Saying that due to having played the beta you have an idea how the final build is gonna run is ignorant. Anyone who has beta tested many games knows that. I alpha'd wow, it kinda sucked balls during alpha, but the final version got 12 million people hooked. You just never do know how these things will play out, ya know?

Being pro-Stardock doesn't give you a license to insult people. I share Jarenko's opinion. I think the game is going to be better after the free patches, but I am not expecting the release to be great or completely bug free (I hope I am wrong and I could be!).

Don't be so ignorant as to assume I am prostardock, anyone from the Sins forums would know much better. I insult people in a playful manner, if you are so thin skinned that you can't handle it then put me on ignore. Because I'm not likely to stop just because your feelings get hurt. The smilies purpose was to let you know it was teasing.

Well your experiences may be different then mine, but I've personally found that the final version of the beta is usually a pretty good indicator of what the final game will be like on release. That was certainly true for WoW. Imagine if a few weeks before release it had played like the alpha, I suspect you would have been pretty concerned. The only reason I'm a bit less skeptical is because there is some evidence that Stardock does their betas differently then usual, so there I feel there is some cause for hope.

The final beta was not public so it's a moot point of trying to judge what Elemental is like from beta 4.

I'll be happy to eat my words.

I like to think of myself as an investor in the game. I'll download it once it is available and spend a day playing it.

*fingers crossed*

Hi

I've played all the betas and mostly love the game. That said I, like everyone else, haven't played the final release version.

It would be nice if those of us who have pre ordered could play the final release as soon as it is ready. But i understand that companies don't do that usually because of the potential for loss of sales if a few people out of thousands of pre-orders get on the forums and run the game down before the game is on sale for the general public.

Personally I would like to see more fantasy creatures... More fantasy Races with fantasy creatures for units etc.  It been said that that sort of thing is easy to mod.  So i hope some more talented moders than me are out there and ready to start on that sort of thing.

On the whole I'm looking forward to seeing just how good it is and what all the feedback from the community has helped to create.  :)

Cry Havoc and let slip the Dogs of War!  or maybe -- Cry Havoc and let slip the Elementals of war!
