Pretty much exactly what the title says.
Would love to play the beta. Will eventually buy the game.
Not intrested in preordering with no real benefit though.
So do I get access to the beta if I preorder now?
No, beta access has been closed for a while. If you preorder now, you'll have to wait until the 24th to get access. It's for the best, beta 4 is still pretty incomplete.

you might be able to play ONE turn per OUT OF MEMORY error crash to desktop, then load again then load save game play one turn OOM crash, rinse & repeat

They should put a note on the site saying beta access is closed, there's been a lot of threads like this and it would save everyone time.
Oh and if you wanted to play the beta as a sort of demo, forget it. These are Stardock betas. They cause brain damage.
I've just ordered and it said on the main website that you would get access to the beta. Nothing happens when I click show pre-release and then I come here. Really not happy about this. What was the point of pre-ordering when its a digital download!?
Pre-orders may be able to download the gold version a few days early. See this thread.

in my experience, stardock will only charge you WHEN they allow you to download either the beta OR full version. and as stevenaus said, frogboy might be letting us beta testers and the pre-orders get the gold version early.
