Need to purchase bootskin, splashscreen and closing screen for XP

Bought the software, etc. No luck. I give up. Don't have time or energy to learn new programs that don't even seem to work properly for one set of screens. Need to set-up 3 laptops for gov't specs. Nothing fancy. Will send details when I get them week of 8/2. Need ASAP. Will obviously pay for work done. Please provide approximate price and a sample of work. Terms negotiable. Paypal, Western Union, etc.

Both bootskin and logonstudio for XP are free, no version that can be purchased.

Bootskin for some will not work due to the system BIOS, if this is your case you are out of luck for bootskin.

I have seen that for a few logonstudio would not work, can't remember reasons.

Both bootskin and logonstudio have been out of development for a few years so are as is.

For both you open the config, select a skin in the list and click apply.

The skins have to have specific wording because they are for classified government computers so I can do digital printing. Found two skins but no blinds, etc.

Can you help? I will even supply the photoshop files.

You should know that a professional custom designed Windowblind can take weeks to design and assemble. However a simple design cuts that significantly.

Having said that feel free to contact me via PM or my site www.maxstyles.com  for a reasonable price.

Bootskin will be single color background with words only and maybe a flag or logo. The splash is just words. I have it typed up. Everything is very simple. I got one to work for the skin but then I found out I needed all the other stuff. Government paperwork SUCKS!

You are giving us way too much information....o_O

I'm surprised the government would allow you to put customization apps on a government pc. o_O

It is required that the boot and splash screens designate it as a classified unit.

I agree with WebGizmos, if the U.S. Government wanted to do this, this is not how it would be done.  I say this with just a little bit of knowledge on the subject.

If required why do they not have the resources needed to set it up; you posting on a customization site talking about a classified computer does not to me seem like what the government would want.

I believe you have the correct description here 2of3 :sun:

The OP wants everyone to believe that a Government Agency is using XP as a secure OS, hmmmm.  I don't think so.

This is not for the actual government. We are a contractor trying to get cleared to use digital files. It is required and I can't find any place where the government supplies them. The computers are not yet in a classified state. I cal load the skin, etc. and then lock them down. They will be in a safe. I am not divulging any state secrets here. I just need some work done so I came to the experts, but if no one wants to do it, I will figure it out. Rather not, but will if I have to. If any of you are cleared personnel, send me your cage code and I'll give what you say more credence. This is what a consultant I paid $$$ to told me. I tend to believe her, since her firm has been doing this for 15 years.

If you are looking there for bootskin or logonstudio skins I doubt there would be. IMO if they require they should have images to replace default windows images using resource hacker. Or maybe they have a special install for XP that is set up to their specs.?

Even though Stardock's apps are safe, I can't see a government just allowing third party apps on what needs to be a secure system.

Not trying to be argumentative, just really can't see how a government would require a special set up but not supply you as a potential contractor with the means to accomplish their requirement.

Sounds to me like you're phishing for those Cage Numbers, and most likely, the next consultant you'll be seeing is a representative  of the F.B.I.

I'll be glad to expedite that for you.

Seriously bud...I don't know what your playing at here saying your "trying" to get cleared...and then asking if "we're cleared" and asking for "Cage Codes" and giving people credence. If your at all serious about getting cleared to use some government files this is the last place you should be. And I'd venture to say that if the government finds out your here doing this and discussing classified documents...whether your revealing anything or not you just might find yourself at a post in Alaska. This all just sounds a bit flaky.

I work for the Public Defender and we do use XP (unfortunately). My bf was in charge of setting up and rolling out all the new computers and we ordered them with Vista Basic and then he imaged XP back onto them (was cheaper than downgrading all the machines).

Having said that, the govt wouldn't give a crap about what the bootskin/logon screen looked like. You wouldn't even see a skinned logon screen, they all use CTRL ALT DEL to logon.

This just made me think; if part of a domain then I believe logonstudioXP will not work at all.

Well...maybe the government wouldn't care...but I would. I don't want anyone that works for the government handling "classified" files coming on here or anywhere else for that matter and talking like he's some sort of secret agent using words like "Cage Codes" and asking on a site like this if "we're cleared." And I don't think the government would like it either...at least I would hope not. Then again...who knows...no one seems to really care anymore.

But I bet it's them that keeps adding these magic links in my text now. It's a conspiracy I tell ya!!!! o_O

I'm not phishing for any thing. My firm is already cleared for non-digital and has been for twenty years. i am not a high school kid playing around. If someone wants to call the FBI, be my guest. We were chosen by DoD for a specific job -- that almost never happens, as those of you who know of what you speak will realize.

I will contact those few people who are interested in seeing what I need and giving me a price. As for everyone else, I am sorry to have wasted your valuable time.

I thought this was a serious site. I tried to handle this like I do all my business -- straight up and to the point. Some of the replies suggest that people think this is a game. It is not. Excuse me if I don't know all the correct terminology. That is why I tried to hire an expert. I am trying to be as polite as possible, but I am an old man and I lost my appetite for eating shit long ago.

I wanted to get this done before I go back to my full-time job teaching 6th grade math in a couple of weeks, which I started doing after 9-11. I suppose some will post that the teaching is a lie intended to do something or other. It is almost 1:00 AM and I am tired and I am PO'd. Call the FBI, CIA, UPS, and any other initials you can think of. All I wanted was a couple of different types of screens that say restricted computer, etc. My email is posted for all to see. It should not be hard for them (or you) to track me down. After this forum, I am actually looking forward to dealing with the kids; most of them have better manners.

To those of you who were polite and helpful, I apologize for the rant. It has been a long, hot summer. I any event, I will not inconvenience you further.
