Differing Galaxy Scenario

A friend and I are trying to play Sins (Diplo) over LAN with fresh installs of the game on laptops, both running Win 7.

Either of us can create a game but when the other tries to join the game we get a message saying that our galaxy scenario files are different. The only fix I could think of was to replace the GalaxyScenarioDef.galaxyScenarioDef files of one computer with that of the other. That didn't work.

I'm hoping there is a fix that doesn't resort of reinstalling the game (I already had to do that twice today just get it to play at all... :annoyed:   ).

Thank you ahead of time for any help.

Well, I haven't heard of this one yet  <_<

Can you make sure your updated and or validate your installs with impulse?

Are you sure your both on the same version? Dip is at 1.011

Unistalling Sins does not delete folders from C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire.

It is possible there is an old mod enabled in the old EnabledMods.txt

The only other thing I can suggest is mods override all other files. Create a folder in the mod directory named GalaxyFix or something then make a GameInfo folder inside that and place a GalaxyScenarioDef.galaxyScenarioDef in the GameInfo folder. Enable the mod on each comp. And you are now a modder to boot.

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011\GalaxyFix\GameInfo\GalaxyScenarioDef.galaxyScenarioDef

Their both current and as their fresh installs there are no mods that have been enabled. I'm not a stranger to modding the game, having made a few personal mods myself, which is why I tried what I did.

I brought my question here hoping that someone else may have dealt with the same or a similar problem.

Of your suggestions the only one that I'm not sure of is whether or not both copies were valid at the time. But I'm curious if that would actually stop the computers from being able to connect if they aren't connecting across the internet and are staying within the network.

Either way, thank you, I'll look into it more tomorrow after I've had some sleep.

If that still doesn't work, manually delete your galaxysenariodef file on both computers before reinstalling from impulse again. When people have corrupted meshes they sometimes have to do that, so maybe it is the same way?
