Civ V Collectors Edition is Trying to Copy Elemental

So now they got figurines

The Civ V special edition is now throwing in some figurines. I think it's a blatant attempt to copy Elemental's Pewter Dragon. What a bunch of copycats.

Note: Yes, in all seriousness I know that Elemental isn't the first game in the world to ship it's special edition with a figurine of some kind. I just think it's odd that suddenly Civ V is doing it too.

I would have liked an Elemental T-Shirt for sure for $80 bucks. They can keep that ole puter dragon and give me a T-Shirt 2X please with a long tail and no not the kind of tail you preverts are thinking and going to make up stupid silly posts about after this.

A figurine makes alot of sense for Elemental because of the Cloth Map play.  In cloth map mode, players move figurines around the board.  Makes a perfect kind of sense for Elementals swag pack to have the figurine and cloth map combo..  It has significance and meaning.  It shoulda remained a special thing.

Cheesy Civ5 counterfeits Elementals uniqueness whether it was intended or not.  Then they go and stuff 5 figurines in the box.  And now 2k announced that Civ5 will have a playable "Strategic View" similar to Elementals Cloth Map mode.  But Civ5's stat map uses little symbols for units.  In that case, the Civ5 swag pack should include little colored buttons instead of figurines ;~p

Bah Civ.

Given how much more important the overland map is for Civ 5 combat wise compared to previous versions, it seems that a strategic view is pretty useful to see what is going on. In that case, who cares where they copied it from? The game is better for it.

Yeah, and I'm glad to see more TBS games doing it.  And I wish Civ4 had it.  I coulda finished my big map games that got MAF'ed. ;~p Was just pointing out that although Civ5 has the Strat View, it still doesn't make the same kind of sense to have figurine swag as it does for Elemental.

I still love Civ.  I just won't be buying into Civ5 at this time.  Perhaps in a few years I'll pick up a complete edition in the bargain bin if its steam free.  Or maybe it'll fall off my radar like Civ4:Colonization did.

Imagine Civ produced under Stardock!  Firaxis would do well in this enviroment I'd think.
