Over 2 days to approve a wallpaper? What? Is this just my fancy dropbox?

Yes I am still bewildered about the moderation process. Tell me it's fair. Phooey!!

Give me one good reason why it should take over two days to approve a wallpaper of mine while others get three approved during the wait?

You say it's to be sure no one gets a virus or porn jabbed in their eyes?

I say it's blatant favoritism. Even the rating expresses that. I jam in 150+ downloads from one of my walls and the rating stays at 3 stars. I saw one wallpaper with 19 downloads...fewer comments...and a higher rating.

If its a fair process, explain exactly to whom.

Bud....first thing...it's the weekend. Second...the moderation process is fair just sometimes slow. There lots of people submitting things and few people moderating. As far as your work I can't say...haven't seen it. But I can say that from what I've seen in the past I'm glad they moderate due to some of the stuff people try and upload...some of it is just horrible and I'd hate like hell to have to wade through a bunch of junk to find a few gems. But like I said...everyone is treated equal when it comes to moderation.

As far as the rating thing goes...your better off just ignoring those little stars...your download count tells whether anyone likes your stuff or not and it has nothing whatsoever to do with favoritism. And I can also tell you that attitude goes a long way....constantly complain and people will just ignore what you do and maybe even give you 1 star.

Gee, you joined the site less than a month ago and all you have done is complained in 4 out of 5 posts.  Forget the ratings, they mean nothing, and try to be a bit more patient and positive.  Believe me, no one is out to get you and do not expect responses from WC staff on the weekend.  ;)

You know I have only been here as a NEW MEMBER for under a month. During the first days I was gingerly accused twice of piracy by members, have to jump hoops to get uploads approved, and have been told by moderators that my walls all look alike. What an abrasive community!!

All I have to say is damn glad to be here. I haven't taken a sh*t in the corner. But the room stinks just the same.

Moderation can take up to five days.

Give me one good reason why it should take over two days to approve a wallpaper of mine while others get three approved during the wait?

The names I see at the top of the wallpaper gallery are all journeymen, which means by reaching that level their uploads bypass moderation and go right into the galleries.

Rating, download count and comments are three different things, one has nothing to due with one of the others.

It doesn't have to do with favoritism.  Skinners with the level of Journeyman can upload without going through moderation.  Put in your time and be an asset to the community, work your way up to that level, and you, too, can get your stuff uploaded without going through moderation.  Also, this is the weekend, so it takes longer for things to get approved.

As for the star ratings...just ignore them.  I know it's hard.  There are some of us here who have a need for approval and the star thing rings our bell, but if you think about it, that's just a lot of stress none of us needs--why give up that power to somebody?  "Skin for yourself" -- it's been repeated over and over here, and seriously, if you're not doing in for yourself, then you should fine a better "charity" to donate your time to.  Skinning doesn't really save the world.

These are things I've learned after a lot of agony, emotional upheaval, putting myself out there and getting knocked down.  Now I keep my mouth shut to the best of my ability when it comes to "all things negative" and skin for myself, upload for the people who enjoy my art, and have learned to smell the roses.  Life is too short to not be happy. |-)

...been told by moderators that my walls all look alike.

That's not necessarily a negative.  You're perceiving it as a negative, but it's probably really good helpful advice.  It gives you a direction on what to do with your next project.  The mods have never given me that sort of direction--they've alerted me to technical things that would bar my skins from approval, and I was always grateful that they caught those things for me, and told me about them, rather than just getting a reject notice and having to figure it out myself.

The moderators aren't your mom from when you were in kindergarten.  They're not going to tell hold a party for every work you upload to make you feel good.  They volunteer their time, it's a thankless job, and without them we wouldn't HAVE a place to upload our work to.  Take the advice they give you as a professional courtesy, not a personal attack, and let your next project reflect what you've learned from the advice they give.

Fine then. I will cease all uploads here.

This is you from your last thread ( third of now four posts about wallpapers ), since you seem to be having a problem understanding the moderation process even though it has been well explain in the threads before this one, IMO,maybe you should heed your own words and not upload.

I've just had a look at your library and in my opinion the wallpapers are over rated by 1-2 stars. I see nothing special in them, but a lot to dislike. I'm not a fan of logos in the middle of wallpapers, especially over a repetitive background. If it were my choice these would have gone personal pages only.

have to agree there.....rather than spend your time trying to bludgeon the mods into passing your work...why not take the time to look at improving your skills/designs...

many, when they first arrive, spend a long time getting their walls into the gallery......it's having to attain a standard....artistically and technically....that makes us improve......keep at it...but lose the idea that everything you do will end up in the gallery....you'll just be disappointed...

just be patient mate......they will be there eventually, dont forget, it also says 2to5days for an upload to show on the main pages...;)

and btw I really do like yr gold windows7 wallpaper... very cool.

And yet, that is still the case...seems like there is so much crap in the wallpaper gallery, but obviously there are people out there that like some of them so...

Newdawg, try and relax a bit. Have some fun and ease off the complain pedal. It just antagonizes the very people doing the judging: They aren't getting paid to do that sorting and judging, and it's a pretty thankless task.

When I did my Messy wall, I was manic with excitement...then, after it was accepted, I looked at it several times and thought it wasn't at all good. I still feel that way.

Leonardo DaVinci I'm not, and neither are you. Not yet, anyway. Maybe never...who knows? In the meantime, harken to what the folks here have been saying...

But also listen to Master Vampothika. If a Master ever said a nice thing like that about one of my efforts, that would be enough for me. Seriously.

Newdawg, you have 2 in the wallpaper Q now with the same backgrounds just different colors.  ! does have an object in the middle.  It would be nice if you heeded the advice of some of the senior members that have taken the time to post on this thread.  They have all been through what your complaining about.  2 have also been moderators  in the past so they have seen it from both sides.  I mentioned on another thread that a lot are starting to look alike, that was to spur you into venturing out of what seems to be your comfort zone.  Downloads, people either like or dislike your stuff(while some get extra because they have friends), ratings are the same.  Quit complaining and take the advice of the fine people that have tried to give it and I know you will come out the better for it.

I HATE Typing.

The wallpaper queue is the busiest of them all, and they are moderated when possible.  There is not people hanging out there every second of the day just waiting for wallpapers to come in.  As others have mentioned, users with Journeyman access get through without moderation so that is why some wallpapers show up immediately for them.  However, you really can't compare your moderation time with others unless you know exactly when they submit their wallpapers.

During the first days I was gingerly accused twice of piracy by members,

Are you still crying about that???  (It's been a whole month now X( )

Referring to a Screenshot posted by you. Saying the Wallpaper was something you threw together.

Again, to repeat myself...  my statement: "I downloaded it off DeviantART and recolored it."

Does not mean that I accused you of piracy or anything else.  It simply states, where I acquired the wallpaper.

This should tell you that, hey, this guy downloaded my wall on another site.  end of story.

Get over yourself, man.

All I have to say is damn glad to be here. I haven't taken a sh*t in the corner. But the room stinks just the same.
