KarmaGirl's Christmas WC Subscription contest

OK, well, I have always wanted to run my own contest, and I have $60 burning a hole in my pocket to do it with.  (OK, so I really don't have a lot of money, but I'm willing to share, and it's Christmas time.........) 

I have heard many comments about how people want a subscription but don't have any money.  They also find it hard to work their way up to a user level that will give them unlimited downloads by "contributing", so here is your chance to win a WC subscription from me.  This is paid by me, not Stardock, so I am the full judge and jury of this.

Here are the rules:
1) you must submit a new work that is fully your own
2) it must be a WB skin, IP or DesktopX object/theme
3) it must be submitted between 12/10/03 and 12/22/03
4) you must indicate that it is for this contest in the comments section
5) you must email me with your full contact info and a reason why you should win (angie@stardock.com with the title of: contest)
6) it has to make it through moderation in order to be considered.

I will not moderate any of the contest submissions myself.  I will judge them and notify the winners on 12/23/03  If you already have a subscription, I will buy an extension for it, otherwise you will get a new subscription.  There will be three winners.  The winners will be chosen from all categories, so all three winners could be from the same category.  Feel free to submit more than one entry!

Just so it's crystal-clear - Do entries have to be related/themed to Xmas or can they be of whatever the entrants want?

I just ask because if it's the former a few may be intimidated after the exceptional quality of the ChristmasTime set

No, they can be anything.  The contest just ends before Christmas and was inspired by the "giving" of Christmas.


It also ends in time that people can subscribe for the "drive" if they don't win the contest.

I was about to buy a WC subscription for my own, but I have just talked to KarmaGirl and I will donate a 4th subscription. It's a runner up prize. KarmaGirl picks 3 skins first (like she wrote above) and I will select the 4th.

KarmaGirl, that is awfully nice of you. I suspect that you will have to go through 100s of submissions. (99 of them mine)

j/k... I hope I have time to create something. It'll probably be a (few) DesktopX objects since that's what I'm good at (though the crowds might disagree)

I hope I can come up with some creative stuff. I think, so far I've been OK.

Getting a real job and a credit card could be helpful to all those ppl out their who whine that the dont have enough money..I mean how broke do you have to be not to shell out 20 bones for such a cool site as this one...Way to go KarmaGirl...I feel your love and I sighned up for another year to (even though my subscriptoin is still a few away from expiring)..But HardDrives are expensive..Specialy SCSI drives.....

I don't recommand begruding people like that. I'm so broke it's not funny. Credit card would have meant debt, which I refuse to accept. I would be unable to pay back. I don't actually get enough money for bills, let alone fun.

Not everyone is rich and/or can afford everything they might want or think they might want.....to give you an example, last financial year my total bank interest earned on savings was 57 cents.


Everyone's priorities are different....but any reshuffling of those priorities that assists in the purchase of the servers will be appreciated....

Jafo, the cat thing is funny. We actually have two cats and two dogs. They are our babies. Still cheaper than a kid since the animals never go to college, and they don't need clothes or diapers.
