Stuttering zoom with game-speed increase?

Okay, the zoom and scroll between stars and objects seems to stutter and lag at higher gamespeeds(x8).  It makes it hard to move around the star-map effectively, is this supposed to be normal?

*Unrelated question*:

Is it only Entrenchment( and possibly diplomicy, dont have it) that has a Quick-start option for single-player skirmish?

I checked my OG sins and it doesnt seem to have the icon in the game-options.

Increasing game-speed tends to bring with it a decreased framerate.

Quickstart was a feature introduced with Entrenchment, so Diplomacy has it, but Vanilla Sins does not.

Well that seems obivous, computers are machines that calucate numbers, and then generate a result. you run the game 8x number are suppose to be generated a 8x the speed so require to calucate 8x per second * your standard frame rate say 60 * the number of mesh points * the number of meshes * AI * number of players * number of meshes per player (of course meshes include the mesh, texturing, and the bump mapping), Ya I say that is more than normal

Hmm.

 

I guess, but the game doesn't really lag when the camera is static in x8.  It just makes it harder and slower to zoom in and out.

I've never experienced this, although I rarely play the game at the full x8. What exactly do you mean by "stutter"?

Low FPS cause the game to studder like a slide show.

 

The reason it does this is b/c you are changing the camera reference so the computer has to recalculate everything b/c your changing your reference to all the meshes, icons, textures, weaponfire, explosions, etc etc etc.

 

Running the game on 8x causes me alot of problems. I minidump more often doing that than I ever had with anything else. Even more so if you got large fleets/large trade routes ingame. Why are you running the game at 8x? Too slow for you? :P lol

How big, hell right now even at 1x my game still lags, but then again we are talking about 50k supply per player on a 150 planet map, lol
