Current state of magic: beta 1Z3

I haven't looked much into magic and was wondering how much is in the beta at this point and if any, how it is accessed.

I know it isn't scheduled to be completely implemented until beta 3.

Spells I've seen (I think this is all so far but could be wrong):

Revive Land

Teleport (you and your army back to your lands)

Mass Heal (you and all units in your army)

Imbue Champion (use your essence to improve a Champion's magical power)

Summon Fire Giant (which looks suspiciously like a troll ;) )

Charm Monster (to join you)

Raise Land

Lower Land

Create Desert

Create Forest

Create Hills

Create Swamp

Spells are bought with spell points, and require knowing a particular spell 'book' (fire, for example).  Some spells require a shard.  Charm monster, for example, is from the 'basic' spell book (at least that's what the description says, I haven't checked to confirm), costs 100 spell points to purchase, requires 1 air shard and 10 mana to cast.

I find myself wondering what type of magic the Charm Monster spell is. It doesn't fit in any of the elemental schools and life or death doesn't make sense either. It seems the game is missing a Spirit type of magic category that would have all the mind/illusion/force spells.

Also in a perfect world, they would not force us to align ourselves with either life or death magic. There should be an option to be a "neutral" elementalist or sorcerer.

As far as magic categories go, I think Dragon Age has done it the best I've ever seen in any game. There you have Primal (earth, fire, ice, air) opposed by Spirit (mind, force, spirits) and Creation (life, buffs) opposed by Entropy (death, hexes). Very clean cut to 4 basic schools that cover everything and an Arcane school on top for basic spells and other magic talents.
