stuck in Aero (UIS0) skins and cannot even change color

all other skins will crash my system

I'm opening a new thread because I think this may be a separate problem.

(My earlier issue, Spectacular crashes, is NOT yet resolved). On my windows 7 system I have an issue between threatfire and wb7, which causes the system to crash if I use any skin ohter than AeroMetals. (This was diagnosed by Neil on this forum).

While waiting for the new beta which would have a workaround for this issue, I tried Aero colors (with threatfire shut off while I made the change). So far the system continues OK but the skin elements that would change color (titlebars, taskbar, etc) have NOT, even though wb identifies the skin as AeroColours. ??

The new beta should now be available.  Does it help with this issue?

If that's 7.09a, no, it does not help. That is what I am running right now.

Same, kept crashing just selecting another skin, or clicking on the Colors button, let alone trying to apply anything. I restored the previous archive.

I restored the previous archive.

I had the same problems here. I reverted back to the last released version. 7.01 build 255

Wiz...you got a link to that?

@Shirley:

Please give me a link to 7.01 build 255. Thanks.

I just unchecked show pre-releases in Impulse then verified WB. This will show the non-beta version as an update which I installed. I've used this method to get the last release version when updates  betas go bad.

Mine says build 247 x64. Meh, as long as it's working.

The problem with the Svelte skin has been reproduced and resolved so the next build should contain a fix for this.

When should we expect that, Neil and what would be the best way to configure Impulse to correct this glitch (and btw thanks! I thought my computer was weirding out on me)?

@Wiz: Thanks, Wiz!

I should ask if anyone has encountered any problems with any other skins in 7.09a?

If you untick show prereleases you should see the previous non beta release.

I would expect to see the update this week.  Possibly today or Wednesday.

Good news here.

I installed the new release, 7.1 build 267, and wb7 seems now to be running stable. I am trying a few skins, and so far no crashes. What I did notice is it takes a long time to apply a skin, and sometimes I have to <<Apply changes>> twice for all of them to "take". Also, when changing skins everything else slows to a crawl. I suppose the CPU is being hogged. I suspect that was at least part of my earlier problems. Once you run a skin for a while it sort of settles and the machine is more stable. It's even better after a reboot. Any ideas why that should be so?

In any case, thanks for the new WB7, it's sure nice not to be stuck into one skin!

What sort of hardware is this running on?

From about Windowblinds:

Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 1
Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 1

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.1 (build 267 - Windows 7 Edition)

(ACER AL2216W ) 1 is attached to VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP

My processor is Intel Celeron 2.80 GHz, and I have 2 GB RAM. The onboard graphics is not the best setup of course but it was always sufficient to have a good experience with windowblinds. I am planning to get a graphics card soon.

With the Celeron processor and onboard graphics, it may take a while to apply a theme, especially anything with transparencies.

I have installed a graphics card and all issues are resolved.
