My email account was hacked

Registration/serial info was in there

My Hotmail account xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx was hacked three days ago and is being used for a Nigerian phishing scam.  I have filed an internet crime report with the FBI and MSN is in the process of looking into the matter right now.  One of the old emails contained my WindowBlinds serial.  While the program is running fine, I wanted to advise Stardock that my serial is compromised and that if it appears elsewhere, I'm not the one spreading it around.

Thank you, Jafo.  As to the email address, I'm going to have Hotmail delete it thanks to the phishing crap.

It saves them locally and sends your data store encrypted to their servers.  More info here:

I like it because it works cross platform with multiple browsers, syncs between all my machines, and allows me to share credentials easily between me and the wife to be.

Well if it was hacked then odds are one of the following is true.

1. Your PC is compromised with a trojan. What virus and spyware software are you using? Please note using just one anti-virus program isn't complete protection. You need a dedicated spyware app as well. such as Spyware Doctor.

2. Your email password was easy to detect via a brute force method. Such as using a common word in a dictionary for a password like 'boathouse'  or the like. If the word is in the dictionary it's very easy to crack. Use no less then 8 character with a mix of caps, numbers or/and symbols. For example one of my retired password I used to use was 'warp15:A1' the odds of brute forcing that password is very remote.

Bottom line unless you get to the cause of HOW your account was hacked it WILL happen again.

Agreed.  An important aspect of computer security is understanding exploit vectors.  Understanding how you can be hacked is crucial to prevent being hacked.
