My skin breaks Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

This is outlook with my skin applied

And here with Corporate applied

I'm at a total loss as to why this particular skin is acting this way. I have tried all the skins in my library (even other skins by me) and Blue Wing is the only skin that effects outlook.

My system info:

Skin finished and saved in SKS 7.01

This has also been reported on xp by a tester of mine.

I'm on xp I think it's awesome that you got the skin to stay put in the upper screeny. From my personal experience with MS/Office/Outlook, has never stayed put. It would skin to what ever blind I was using but the outlook settings/ui would overwrite it and apply itself. I'm currently using the 2010 Beta and it too will not skin.

Happens on Vista too, Tim.

I kinda like it this way... ;-)

It's like it's using only the classic colors. Hell, even the icons are windows classic. I don't get what is different about this skin. :S

I would try changing your system colours to see if that helps.  Also make sure you don't have a line in the UIS telling office that the current theme is classic (Search for SkinHasNoShellStyle).  Also look for MakeOfficeBlue = 1

w4xpl4y3r : WindowBlinds should skin Office 2007 and 2010 apps just fine.  The orb / additional buttons will appear on the titlebar as expected and function normally.

Tim, I get the same thing on 7. Fugly!!!!!!!  o_O

This is what mine looks like. I always thought it was by default unskinable??? But hey! after seeing Snowy's screenie and hearing from Neil, it should apply the skin. Could it be something I'm not setting up right on my end? I'll try different skins and post if there are any differences...by the way I'm currently using iFlex by Danillo...

Didn't find those lines anywhere, Neil

How about starting a new thread, karmat. I'm trying to fix my skin so I can upload

Maybe try adding it then, odd problem, if u have VOX dark, try loading it.. see if it makes it all light like that, I know outlook loves to go opposite on its coloring when it encounters dark system colors.

Oherwise, something may be corrupted in the skin I suspect.... it does happen.

Hell, I had to restart Venom the other day from scratch, the skin was crashing explorer.

Just add the line anywhere in the UIS file?

I don't have VOX but I loaded PADD which is as dark as it gets. No conflict there.

*Sigh* It just may come to that :'(

Happens on Win 7 too..........Outlook 2007

Seems to effect the Icons in the toolbars too......like it removes anti-aliasing

I would add it at end.

Did that.....didn't work......rebuilding....... :'(

that sucks Tim... I find it a good idea to keep previous builds of WIP blinds sort of like a system restore function.

That's gonna be SOP for me from now on.

I had moved the file between 3 different computers during the building of this skin. I guess the .wba got corrupted somehow in copying. Lessons learned and all that.... :)

It's going pretty fast reimporting the images into a fresh template, so it's not so bad.

I'm skinning with outlook open at all times, but I feel confident that it's fine this time. Who would have thought that the sight of baby blue toolbars would warm a skinners heart! <3

XD :P

This is important, so pay attention!

I was all finished reimporting all my images into a new template. I had outlook open at all times to make sure everything was fine.

So far, so good

The only thing left to do was the system colors. I copied all the settings from the old (broken) skin, then applied. I nearly shat myself when I saw outlook had reverted to classic! Thinking I had accidentally applied the old version, I hastily reapplied. No change.....

Bingo!

You guessed it. One of the settings in that section screws it up. I went through all the settings one at a time time to find out which item is the sinner.

Here's what I found out: Button color when pure black (0, 0, 0,) will turn outlook (all office apps actually) into classic win98 style. Change it to any other color and outlook is baby blue. Even not pure black (1, 1, 1,) won't change it,

Frakking hell man! I just spent 2 frakking days rebuilding a frakking skin only to discover this? :banhammer: XO o_O :S

:waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa: :waaaa:

o_O   Might should have tried those first mate.

Glad its sorted now tho :)

All that occurred to me AFTER the fact, John. I thought "what was that that V said?" I was in that section first thing early on, but that must have been the only color I didn't change!

Oh well.....at least I know which setting screws it all up now!
