Item states that when hit it reflects 35 damage back... now does this mean they take 35 damage, or that you take 35 damage less AND they take 35 damage. Obviously one is far superior to the other. Also does it activate for abilities or just AA and is the damage it reflects mitigated by armour etc

Just curious as to how this item works really,

The first one, they take 35 damage.

Pretty sure they will take 35 damage regardless of their armor. Bulwark armor may reduce this though as it seems to take 25% off all damage.

  • The armor deals 35 armor to any attacker that deals damage to you.
  • The armor only reacts to Demigod autoattacks (it can react to abilities, but they are set to not activate it) and minion & reinforcement attacks.
  • The damage dealt by the Armor of Vengeance is not mitigated by armor.
  • The Armor does not reduce damage by 35 points, but it does have a functioning armor value which increases your armor.

yeah i had a feeling that would be the case, a  70hp swing per attack seemed a little too promising

This armor is sextremely effective against an autoattack build regulus,  Ice TB and minion builds in general.  Other than that i typically don't get it and even then it's rare since the other players on the opposing team tend to require HP stacking to counter.  Also the high armor value helps mitigate tower damage as well.

In the same area of questioning, I assume it does cause damage to towers (though I think it should). But does it hurt Rook when his shoulders are attacking...I realize this is not per se autoattack, but it is an auto attack.

Pfizzy, thats a negative on the armor reacting to Rooks shoulder attacks or on archer towers at least... don't think regular towers activate it either... also it doesn't work when the QoTs bramble shield is absorbing damage.  Its a shame because that alone might make her competitive.
