So I am forced to buy the current version of Windowblinds ?

O.k. I had Windowblinds 6 installed on my computer, had bough it in May of 2009.

I had windowblinds 6 backed up on an external hard drive, as well as all the other software I have purchased over the years. and when my internal hard drive took a dump on me, I bought a new hard drive. I got the files I had backed up ( Windowblinds 6 ) and installed it, upon completion, I was told " This version of Windowblainds has expired, please download the latest version " so I figured o.k. no problem.

I downloaded the newest version, and installed it, only to find out I now have to pay for the upgrade. 9 dollars isn't much, but dammit I should be able to use the software I payed for ! So I am stuck with a piece of software that I payed full price for that is now useless ?

Is this how Stardock does business ? If this is how it is done, then I will never purchase another product from stardock again.

Please tell me I have it all wrong...

You have it all wrong.

Contact support@stardock.com and they will organize for you access to the file/version you bought ...;)

I hope so. I did back up the original version that I purchased, it's telling me it has expired.

I think that if I buy software, and am provided with a serial number, I should be able to back the .exe file and the serial number and be able to use at at any time. not be told that what I bought had expired.

[ EDIT ]

Nevermind, I got it sorted, I had accidentally checked the wrong e-mail account, I just checked the correct e-mail that I am registered from and realized that Stardock had sent me a working file.

Support would have likely reminded you to check that first....;)

Glad you got it sorted...;)

If you get an expiry message it means the version you backed up was either a beta of WindowBlinds 6 (which given the dates is unlikely), or a beta of WindowBlinds 7.

Builds of WindowBlinds before the final release have expiry dates.

Also if you purchased WindowBlinds after April 1st 2009 then you got a free upgrade to WB7.

I purchased windowblinds 6 in May of 2009, and if what you say is true, then why havn't I been notified and or given a download link for my free upgrade for windowblinds 7 ? I was never notified either through e-mail or Impulse. again, I had the version I purchased directly from Stardock in May of 2009 installed on my computer untill my hard drive went TU.

So I wonder why I never got my free upgrade to windows 7. I got an e-mail last night with a bunch of links, one says for Windowblinds 7 but no link below for d/l of WB7, just below it is a link to download Impulse with a serial number under it, I did download windowblinds 7 and applied the serial number provided below the Impulse link, but it never registered and windowblinds 7 shows it is on 30 day trial version.

I e-mailed support, got a e-mail back with a support ticket, but still no response.

Support will get back to you as soon as possible. It could be up to 48 hours. Please do not re-submit a request for assistance as the support queue works on a first in first out basis and re-submitting just puts a request at the end and the 48 hour clock starts over.

They will get this resolved for you.

WindowBlinds works on Windows XP 32 bit and not Windows XP 64 bit.

You would need an earlier version of WindowBlinds.  Probably 6.1 or 5.5.
