Downloaded file invalid; MD5s do not match server
I have bought the Entrenchment add-on for Sins of a Solar Empire, however when I download it I keep getting this message:

Any suggestions?

You know be nice if they actually READ my ticket. I clearly stated I turned my virus scanner off in my tkt, guess what they asked me to do in their reply to me? Yup.
My patience level with this is nearing the end. I may simply abandon impulse for steam if this can't get resolved soon on top of getting a refund.
Sorry for the duplicate reply, although often times adding exceptions will yield different results than disabling altogether (as a former Avast user myself, this probably isn't your case as Avast has the "turn off everything" mode, but useful for the sake of others). Also, looks like Matt mentioned Avast but did you also make sure to do the same with Spyware Doctor? In the case of Impulse the things to look out for are web shields and not so much resident scanners.
I also noticed you're running TuneUp utilities on the system. Have you done any network performance tweaks that may have affected this?
I have spyware dr. services disabled I only use/run it when I fear of an infection. Same with tuenup utils I do not have any of those services running in the background. I did not do any internet turn ups with it. Just in case I did a restore of the settings with it to verify no net settings were changed.
Well its been about 36 hrs since I got my last reply from support. Clearly you poeple have no idea what the issue is so I am putting in a tkt for a refund.
With todays impulse update the issue was 'fixed'... imagine that... ![]()
Pointing to something other than a server-side issue is the fact that I was able to download and install the Sins updates without issue. This was within minutes of the updates being posted. Not that I was impatient or anything.
Interesting, as the update to today's Impulse implements the new MD5 checking after every 100 MB. This new mechanism silently retries when a checksum fails and redownloads the failed chunk, so if there were any errors you probably wouldn't even have noticed. This makes me wonder what would have been causing the checksum to fail on the large file, but not on the smaller sections.
Possibly intermittant connectivity issues. Statistically speaking if the connection is glitchy randomly at intermitant periods, the odds are much higher you will see one hickup over 4GB (which we didn't retry by the way). Now we allow a hickup over 100MB segments and we retry up to three times during each segment.

I am suffering from this issue when trying to download the Witcher. I have a ticket open for it in which i explained I added impulse as a firewall exception, turned off AV software and ran a RAM test which returned no errors.
Tech support had me try to re-update Impulse which brought me to build 1936, which is where I was previously. I've tried 7 or 8 times, which at 9GB a file is really burning into my bandwidth cap.
At the end of the download the entire 9GB file tries to verify, tells me the checksum is bad and deletes the whole thing and immediately restarts. I see no indication in the error log that there is any checking occurring at 100 MB segments - in that case I'd expect to see the error at one of these verifications. This is a bit ridiculous---I hate to say this but I download a lot of software and have never had any problems downloading through SD's competitor (you know who I mean) nor do I appreciate the hoops SD is making me go through with antivirus and the like. I should not have to turn off AV software for hours on end to download a file. The whole point of AV software is to protect my computer when I'm on the internet and here I am having to turn it off while the file downloads again and again. Absurd.
It sounds like you still don't have the latest greatest version of Impulse, or possibly some file has not been updated. Try cleaning it out completely with the following tool:
http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/cleanimpulse.exe
Once you run this you should be able to reboot and reinstall.
I agree, and I wouldn't ask people to do so if it weren't the cause of so many issues. Most problems we see with AV software are with web filtering apps, things that watch http and https connections. Some of these tend to interfere with Impulse downloads and will prevent them from succeeding until disabled.
