Quick Question,
I play TEC (not online) a lot and was wondering should i use more ship types and if so what kind?
You should use all of them by the end of the game. Usually the bulk of your forces will be Javlis and Hoshkios. But with TEC more than any other race a balanced fleet is needed.
The hoshiko is the heart and soul of the TEC faction. That mobile repair unit will save you countless credits by keeping your units alive, and every extra second it buys a frigate is another second its gun is firing. Absolutely crucial unit. Beyond that, it's all about trying to pack as much damage as possible, and that usually entails Javelis LRM's or Kodiaks.
Hoshikos are just about essential for any TEC fleet. Try to get them as soon as possible. Getting LRMs and Kodies is necessary. In addition, TEC flak are arguably the best in the game- they have enormous durability and kill fighters and LRF quickly.
