Does ObjectDock work with 64 bit computers or not?

Heh. Trying to get ObjectDock has been something of a quest, here, and at this point I'm only sticking with it out of pure stubborn. First saw Dell Dock at a store, didn't realize it was a Dell thing not a standard Windows 7 thing, later didn't know what it was callled and had to find someone who could figure out what I was talking about... then find where I could get a version that'd work on Toshiba... then found out it's 32-bit-only.

Apparently it's still possible to use it on a 64 bit computer? My question is, what kind of conflicts/problems/difficulties does this actually cause? Neat as ObjectDock looks, I'm kinda enjoying having a new, fast, functioning computer at the moment, and I really don't want to mess it up.

In that vein, if it does cause difficulties down the line, how difficult is it to uninstall ObjectDock?

And can anyone tell me what the noticeable differences between the Dell Dock I first saw and the standard ObjectDock are?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give! And please forgive my tech-ignorance. I'm trying, but... it comes slowly to me. :P

I have a Dell XPS studio with the Dell bar. It's just a version of ObjectDock made for Dell. I don't know why you're having a problem with it. Try RocketDock at  http://rocketdock.com/. Maybe it will work.

I have ObjectDock Plus on a Win 7 64 bit Home Premium system and have no problems.

I would try ObjectDock free version, if you don't like it is easy enough to remove.

I've not tried RocketDock but I understand that it is also a nice program.

impulse dock is also free, and that more resembles the dell dock.  object dock plus works fine on windows 7 32/64 systems.  rocket dock works about a week on windows 7, then it crashes on a reboot and tells you it can't load the config would you like to load default icons.  i've had this happen several times recently on both 32 and 64bit windows 7 installs.  if you want a good free dock, try nexus dock over at winstep.net.  it has some nice features the current object dock doesn't, hopefully OD2 will have this stuff

I have OD+ version 1.9 and it works just fine on Windows 7 64 bit. I also have Winstep Extreme which includes nexus and it works fine also on a W7 64 bit machine

Last I checked, the current available build of ObjectDock Plus does not have system tray and start menu functionality in 64bit operating systems. This of course will be functional in ObjectDock 2.0.

I have it in my system tray and it works

Having it in your system tray and displaying your system tray in the dock is very very different, my friend :-)  The latter is not yet supported.  OD2+ would change that thoug  :sun:   Waiting, waiting...

The system tray functionality I speak of is where your systray appears within the dock itself.
