Introduction from Ironclad's Concept Artist (Updated March 24 2010)

Hello Everyone,

My name is Quinn, I am the Concept Artist here at Ironclad Games. I have been with Ironclad for just over a year now and I am having a great time working with all the very talented people here.

For my first post here on the forum I wanted to share a painting of a Vasari I did for the Trinity box cover.

I look forward to sharing more artwork with everyone here in the future.

Quinn

Hi there, Quinn! Always a pleasure to meet an Ironcladian. :) The company definitely has very talented folks who like their jobs to put out quality products. Over the two and a half years I've been in the community (started in the middle of the original Sins' beta test), I've gotten to know a fair number of folks at Ironclad and they're all upstanding and great people.

My envy aside, congrats on landing the job ;)

Your Vasari looks great. Were you influenced by the Dead Space suit design or is it a coincidence?

Ah, I noticed a slight shift in the style with a lot of the new diplomacy artwork.  I suppose a lot of that was your work.

Love the battle-armoured Vasari :-)

Looking forward to the concepts. The art and concepts of SoaSE have done a great job of being fresh and yet being able to remind me of other sci fi shows that I've enjoyed.

The artwork of the Vasari is incredible. Is he one of those shock troopers mentioned in the manual? I do rather like the art style, and this work really conveys a nice, military-oriented side of the Vasari. ^_^

Yeah I have to agree Vasari in armor scare me more now than the robe clad. Can we get some TEC bad asses? Pwweeeeaaaseeee!

Wow. I love the Vasari, perhaps not as a race to play in game, but as an enemy and as a species. They're interesting, and I wanna know more. And more pics of them is straight awesome.

Vasari=win. 'Nuff said.

Thanks, always happy to have more from Ironclad and great portrait- will it get used in-game?  If portraits can eventually be matched to AI types along with faction names, perhaps this faction might be defenders.. They don't seem to stand out- at first glance- as being ready to negotiate a truce, though?  Or is that just me?

Also, just put that Vasari in as a leaderhead in Sins. Win!

When do we get to see Space Pony art?

-Ue_Carbon - Thank you!

Annatar11 - Thank you Annatar11, it's a pleasure to meet you as well. I am glad you like the Vasari design. I've seen the Dead Space suit, it's really cool, but it wasn't influential in my design for the Vasari. With this new design I wanted it to have a more aggressive, grittier and darker look than what was done previously.

Darvin3 - Thank you, glad you like him. As for the other Diplomacy artwork it was done by another artist.

mbaron888 - Thanks mbaron888! That's great to hear!

Swordsalmon - Thanks Swordsalmon! This Vasari was painted specifically for the Trinity box cover. I did want him to have a more military/soldier look to him, so I am glad you saw that in him.

-Ue_Carbon - Thanks again -Ue_Carbon, I will see what I can do.

Cadalancea - Great to hear like you him. Thank you!

GoaFan77 - Thank you GoaFan77!

JuleTron - Thank you JuleTron! I post more in the future when I get clearance.

Volt_Cruelerz - Thank you Volt_Cruelerz!

TheRezonator - Thanks! I look forward to participating in the Sins community more often.

ice27828 - Thanks ice27828!

Unneta - Thank you Unneta! That's really nice of you to say!

Kitkun - Thank you Kitkun!

DesConnor - Thanks! glad you like it. Yes, I would agree that he is more a soldier than diplomat.

Cadalancea - Hey Cadalancea, Thanks again!

DirtySanchezz - That's top secret! Thanks for the reply!

@Sanchez/Simoes: Lol!  But Simoes, we are certainly looking forward to anything new you post here in the way of concept art.

Welcome to the sins community Quinn, Your art should be some of the avatar selections for the game. P.S see if you can get that vasari image as the whole box cover since they are the best lol.

Man, I wonder if IC will ever decide to release a concept art booklet or something. Id love to see how the Vasari started out. As everyones already noticed the individual Vasari characteristics change from individual to individual.

Volt_Cruelerz - Thanks again Volt_Cruelerz!

Annihilator27 - Thanks Annihilator27! The Vasari are my favorite too!

Allegiance86 - Thanks Allegiance86! A concept art book would be cool! I agree, it's always interesting how different artists interpret the same subject such as the Vasari. Its cool to see them evolve from one design to another.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Very nice stuff Quinn, Vasari have always been a favorite in regards to lore (because I just love alien stuffs) and this picture makes them look so much more bad ass.

Hope to see some of your work in Diplo, as well as some sick new portraits!
