[Graphics] Antialiasing christmas lights

This has been something small thats been bugging me for a while. When AA is turned on, the distracting pixelation in planets and fighter trails goes away, but objects sport christmas lights. I've seen this on XP with an nVidia card and on 7 with an ATI card.

Screenshot from Diplomacy below: top is without AA, bottom is with. Non-maskable, 2x, 4x, doesn't make much difference. It appears as though the AA is picking up white instead of transparent when doing calculations, reminding me of transparent gif errors.

I don't know how the code is written, but if it's a simple change like setting the default backdrop or expanding the textures a pixel or two, please try to sneak it in!

I updated the old tech support thread about this or a similar issue popping back up for me as well.  For now I've disabled in-game AA and used Nvidia's control panel to force it on.  It might be a different problem, but for me at certain zoom levels asteroids and other objects are displayed with white dots along their edges.

I'm sure IC is busy with the expansion, but it would indeed be nice if they could look into this.  I don't remember the problem in Entrenchment actually, but it seems in Diplomacy it's come back from the older days of the original Sins.  That's just my unreliable memory about it though, so here's hoping the coders can figure out something substantive about it.

There's the thread with a good pic of what I see without disabling AA and using the alternatives available through Nvidia.
