Thinking about buying

You will definitely want to wait a bit before buying it. It's in beta right now and not the fun kind of beta.

The kind of fun we had in Demigod beta?

Not even that yet.

That said, the development process will be radically different. 

One thing to take into account is that the three games you said are RTS and Elemental is a TBS. Just in case.

Hmm... well, I liked Age of Empires, and I'll like Elemental... it might not be what you are used to, but you might think it fun. But yeah, wait a bit.

No other CEO will say that, I think. I respect how you open the game to testers so early even if it might hurt with bad publicity... your insistence to make a high-quality product is commendable. Sometimes you make me think good thoughts about the free market economy.

Elemental has nothing to do with AoE or Demigod. Sure you can fight in Elemental, but you have to build an empire, send heroes on quests, trade with other people, marry your daughters (and/or sons I hope), try a domination/magic/quest victory.

You should wait to know better if the game is tailored for you.

Did you liked civilization 4 ? And the mod Fall from Heaven 2 ?

The closest game to this (Correct me if I'm wrong) would be GalCiv2 or Civ4. This is a turn based fantasy game with multiple ways of "winning" while fighting battles will be part of the game there is also city building, empire management, etc.

EDIT:

I just bought it, I have a couple (three) questions:

1st. I didn't purchase teh disc, will I be able to get a disc in the future if I decide I want one? (Additional cost obviously)

2nd. Assuming 1 is no, can I make my own hard copy back up of Elemental?

3rd. I realize the beta is closed for a little while, but I read a post from frogboy(i think) which stated that some people in line for the beta may be let in early for some testing purpose, are these people from the front of the line (logically) because at this point in time I'm probably at the very end of the line.

Re purchasing:

1. There will be lots of upgrade options including getting the box version sent to you.

2. There will also be a collector's edition that may or may not be available at retail due to its physical weight that users will be able to upgrade to (even if they buy at the store and beta testers will be able to upgrade at any point once we nail down the price).  The collector's edition will have a cloth map of Elemental in it and I think some sort of role playing piece in it along with a bunch of other stuff. The book won't come with it though but we'll probably have bundles depending on what we put together with the book's publisher.

Re gameplay:

3. There will be an Arena mode that would play out a bit like Myth or XCOM - that is, a single tactical battle. Those two games are the inspiration for the tactical battles.

Re openness:

Oh it's a double edged sword because I can also be mean online too.  But transparency I think very important and a major motivation for doing what we do.

So beta 1 G next do we get acces or wait for beta 2 if wait what is expected for beta 2 April?

I think we have to wait for beta 2. I could be wrong. I've tried to get an answer multiple times but I think by now stardock ignores everything I say.

And I THINK, once again not sure that Beta 2 was meant for march.

awww let down..i thought i was gonna get in on feb 18th

thats it...frogboy i want in on 1G or i will starting killing 1 space pony per hour until i get my beta entry.and yes i have space ponies in my achievement list so i am very serious ..you have my demands
