cultivating Artificial Life in GalCiv2 ?

this is an open letter to Mr. Wardell, or any of the other developers who make commits to the AI packages,

is there a way for me to use GalCiv2 as an a-life "environment"?

i am a boston-based multi-media artist who is super-interested in a-life, evolutionary computation, and gaming. i participate regularly in the biota workgroup, and while i am not on the level of some of our foremost researchers on the subject like Dick Gordon, Mark Bedau, Tom Barbalet, or Larry Yaeger, id like to continue that "garage-science" research in gaming contexts. currently, i have an open application at the MIT Media Lab to explore the general idea of a-life in gaming further. this isnt to brag, but to show that i am taking this idea seriously.

i thought this game would make an interesting environment for researching a-life techniques, given everything this game has to offer...

if this interests you (and/or your developers) in any way, please dont hesitate to get in touch with me.

sincerely,

oliver nowak

Might want to move over to the Elemental forums. The game uses a lot of the same features and algorythms as GC2, and while it's still in the early beta stages there's a lot of dev activity over there while the GC2 forums are pretty dead.
