Windows 7 Compatablity?

Ok, I have the EXACT same problem that https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307544 has. Fired up VMware Workstation, installed vista 32 bit and moved the saves over and works fine.

I am even running RC x64 too. However, I cannot find any posts about Win7 compatibility. Is this issue fixed in the release? To upgrade to release I have to uninstall RC and thats just going to be a pain, so I want to know whether I NEED to do it or, if its not compatible, to just wing it with VMware.

I backed up the error application logs and all the relevant files in the App temp folder. But no dump files were created straight to desktop.

I never had any problems on the RC, or now that I'm running Windows 7 Professional X64.  I'd try upgrading to the full version instead of the test version first (you really should, pain in the ass or not...  you knew you'd need to!).  Other possible culprits might include needing to reinstall DirectX, driver issues, etc etc.

 

And did you link to the right thread?   That's on sync issues (which don't produce crahses anymore).

Meh, lost the log files when I crashed my system.  Be careful with VMware Workstation and running "clean" on raw disk access drives:P  Took days to recover my Documents folder.

Sorry Ron Lugge, your right, wrong link.  https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/357146  To be honest, The first link up there is the reason me and my friend stopped playing.  That Sync error was driving us mad.  What was the problem with the error anyway?

Went ahead and picked up the full retail of 7 x64 Ultimate since I had to reformat anyway.  Going to try it out latter tonight to see if the issue is still there.

Funny though.  Never would of hosed my system if I wasn't so desperate to finish that damn map.  Luckily that recovered:P
