How to have a sure, fixed, minimalistic taskbar

So, in win 7 all is big, fat and chubby -> really orrible for me - a computer is not only a toy.

Then:

1) somebody created a minimalistic theme? Light and thin? if yes where i can find it?

2) how to "force" to have taskbar thinner than the standard small one (38px minimum) say 24px and icons inside 18-20px?

some themes try to acheive this goal but.... after a explorer.exe restart ( X| ) task bar return to be huge 38px and no way to return to original size. I have to move on top (or bottom), log off, login and move it bottom or top. Unacceptable.

Anyone has a clue on that? Thanks in advance :P !

Right click start button >properties>taskbar>use small icons gives the thin taskbar.

thank you for your prompt answer.

Unfortunately your technique (just known) does not fit my needs. The height of the taskbar is far to be at least similar to the XP one nor 24px (minimum you can have it is 38px). Micro***t choice is incredible "loud" and "gross".

Anyway, do you know if is possible to tweak this height inside registry? Have you see any minimalistic theme build up for a "regular" WB7 installation?

Thanks a lot.

"Use small icons" makes it the same height as the Vista taskbar, which is the same height (possibly + or - one or two pixels) as XP.

Unlock the taskbar then drag the upper border "down" to the desired height. Also...make sure "small icons" is selected in the taskbar properties by right clicking on the taskbar.

Should do it.
