Install IP4.2 on Win7

Recently I've discovered (through catastrophic re-install)that Stardock has blocked my bought and paid for IP4 from installing on Win7. At the time of purchase, it said Win 7 compatible (this has been modified with a footnote about only the beta 5 being compatible). Also at the time of purchase, IP4 installed NO PROBLEM on Win 7. It also worked with no showstopping bugs (for me anyway), and accomplished what I wanted.

But recently, I've had to re-install and I can't re-install IP4.x (Actually I did using less than honest means, But I purchased and I'm registered, I'm entitled). Now I can't update. Is there anyway to bypass the install/update block ? I have a mind and can make my own decisions, IP4.x works great for me on Win7, and see no reason why I'm blocked.

And before someone says subscribe to object desktop, why would I ? I've already purchased the components I want (WB and IP) and have no desire for the other components. If I want another one, I'll buy that too. Besides, I see no reason to pay again for what I've already paid for, unless Stardock knocks the cost of what I paid already for an OD subscription, which is highly unlikely.

Install the beta 4.98[b]

go to preferences in Impulse and select "Show Pre-Release versions".

I am using the beta without any issue.

If you have a current subscription, you get updates & betas...

If you don't, you get the version you paid for. Pretty standard really.  you go buy Office XP 10 years ago, you will not get Office 2007 for free ;)

But Office XP will work on Windows 7, you shouldn't be punished for upgrading your operating system.

Picardsm, I had a similar problem when I upgraded to Windows 7.  IP 4 would not run on my machine. I could also see the beta for IP 5 but could not install it even though I purchased IP4.  Because of some great changes underway, I decided to purchase Object Desktop Ultimate (going to be slimmed down, more core software and if we buy it now, we will get the upcoming updgrade and an extra year for free).  Then I was able to install IP5 which works great.  I'm still playing around with my new "toys" and having a great time.  I am hoping if I keep on whining that Stardock will include Bootskin 7 as part of the new Object Desktop package.  :D   BTW you have to buy the Ultimate version of Object Desktop to get the free one year upgrade but in the future there will be only one version of Object Desktop instead of two.  That drops the cost to $35.00 a year which works for me!

No one is being punished for keeping an older app on an older OS, rather rewarded for upgrading to a newer version of the app for use on the newer OS. If all the newer major versions of Object Desktop applications offered were compatibility with the newer OS, Stardock would not be in business long.

While supplies last! (actually, before OD Ultimate is phased out)
