RELEASE DATE!!?

So LAST month, I purchased Windowblinds 6 as the website said that by doing so I would get the free update to Windowblinds 7 NEXT MONTH...

It is now next month and the site says the same damn thing. >:(   6 is not compatible with Windows7... So i bought something I can't use.

Rather than say "NEXT MONTH" give us an actual release date. If 7 is not going to be ready until next year or something; I WANT A REFUND!

Did you purchase the WindowBlinds program only, or did you purchase it as part of ObjectDesktop?

I'm not sure about the standalone program, but if you're an ObjectDesktop subscriber, you can get the beta of WB7 through Impulse by making sure the "show pre-release versions" is checked in your settings.

Also, November is not over yet; they still have a few weeks to keep their word. ;)

I didn't want to pay $40+ to just get windowblinds... so I purchased the single program only. I have no use for the rest of Stardock's programs.

Hmmm... It seems to me that Impulse must work for you even if you are not the OD subscriber. Try to install and use it.

Also, November is not over yet; they still have a few weeks to keep their word.

The declared release date of Object Desktop is 2, December. But I'm sure that the people who purchased standalone version of any Stadock Programs must have the same rights as OD subscribers. So they must download updates through Impulse. Otherwise - this is discrimination...

Frogboy, in This Article says:

To get WindowBlinds 7 early, get Object Desktop at www.objectdesktop.com .

If so this is unfair transaction... :hugme:

When I buy any other software nobody forces me to buy something else to download an updates for purchased product...

I'm using a lot of legal software from Microsoft, Adobe, Eset, TuneUP and other developers but even did not hear about the similar offers... Therefore I can only repeat - this transaction is unfair.

EXACTLY!!  I know of three different websites where i can link to a full version (cracked copy) of Object Desktop. I could download it and then get WindowBlinds-7 for FREE, but i'd much rather get a real copy that i've already paid $20 for!

Purchasing Object Desktop entitles you to early access to applications and betas.  It's been like that for as long as I can remember.

WB7 is not released yet.  However, you can check "show pre-release" versions in Impulse and have access to the beta.

This is true no doubt!

At the same time I don't remember that people who purchased some Stardock products must pay for OD subscription to have rights to use Impulse for downloading updates for purchased software. Otherwise we don't understand each other...

I'm not quite sure what you mean.  You don't have to have an Object Desktop subscription to use Impulse.  Impulse is required, and it is free btw, to download betas and updates.

YES!!!! You are absolutely right (as always)!! I tried to say the same. I.E. each person who bought at least one Stardock product can use Impulse to download updates.

So rbrainard should cease to be nervous and stop any conversations about pirate sites. Then install his FREE COPY of Impulse and download update for WindowBlinds (version 7 beta). It's so easy...

All i know is what I stated in the original and last post...

I paid $20 for Windowblinds for use with my new Windows7 "Starter" Netbook. As WB6 is not compatible with Win7... I'd really like to know WHEN WB7 will be released so that I can get what I paid for. I'm not a fan of paying for "vaporware"... which is what this is considering I can't get it though I already paid for its predecessor. My lack of the new Beta version for not wanting to pay for the entire Object Desktop package is ridiculous.

When I read something saying; "Buy THIS now and get the free update NEXT MONTH" I expect to get the update the month after I bought the product; which would be right about NOW. The sales page on Stardock's main website still says the SAME thing as if I buy it TODAY and still have to wait til "NEXT MONTH" (December)

THIS IS MISLEADING!

Dear rbrainard,

Please look above!

Don't worry! You don't need to pay! Just go here: https://www.stardock.com/downloads/ or

here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/downloads/impulse_setup.exe.

Download and install your copy of Impulse (use your Stardock Account). Then run it, press the button on the top-left of Impulse window and check "show pre-release versions" in the context menu. Press "Check for updates" and install your WindowBlinds-7.

That's all.

both Island Dog and Vad_M - both right

Betas used to be for object desktop subcribers for as long as I can remember

but I do believe Neil posted a reply not to far back that said WB owner can get the WB beta while waiting for the release.

I just keep getting an error message when I try to install it.

Can only subscribers get the beta or like me people who brought a copy of WB6 and waiting for the WB7 release ?

Edit: Error message - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

where does it store the archive option

Press the button on the Top-Left. Then Preferences => Archive & Install :)

you can only get the beta of windowblinds 7 by being an Object Desktop Subscriber...its still in beta and will b ereleased soon...so if you wanted to use the beta you'd have to buy the object desktop package with all the goodies

There was an error earlier this morning.  Close Impulse and try again.

It's been updated that people who purchase WB6 now can get the beta.

I think that's a great idea!

I wonder if, since there have been articles written that state that one has to purchase ObjectDesktop to get the beta, if there ought to be an article written stating that now anyone who purchases WB6 can have access to WB7. |-)
