Fences and Deskscape

Possible bug.  Fences doesn't work when Deskscapes are running on Windows 7 64 bit.  Fences works fine as long as there's no Dream running, but doesn't work when there is.

I have the same type of conflict when running both Fences and Deskscapes on 32-bit XP w/ SP3.

The icons never stay faded out - they fade out then right back in with every mouse click.

The fences do not show.  I cannot move "fenced" icons as a group because there's no fence to click & drag.

Deskscapes and Fences (and ActiveDesktop) are incompatible with each other on Windows XP.

They are compatible with each other on Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit) and Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit).

It's odd that there was an issue the first time I tried running it.  It's working fine now.

Same here.

I have a feeling a reboot was/is needed....;)

Rebooting is a good idea after installing either of these applications, but is required after installing Fences.

Deskscapes and Fences are not compatible with each other on ANY operating system. I've tried it on XP, Vista 32, Vista 64, and Windows 7 64-bit. The results are the same for all of them.  The deskscape plays ok, but the fences are invisible and unselectable, except for right-clicking to bring up the configure dialogue.

rassilon: Which specific version of Deskscapes and Fences does Impulse report you're using?

For you on your systems may be but the combo have always worked perfect for me on both Vista 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit OS es for a desktop and a laptop and I have had no problems at all ever. I have both running always and a lot of the time I am creating dreams and/or using AE and/or TMPGEnc at the same time too.

DeskScapes and Fences together on XP does not work, but on Vista and 7 you should have no issues.

I am having similiar problems to those listed here.   Currently up to date with fences pro & deskscapes 3, but when I enable the dream, fences no longer show up (all my icons are dumped to my desktop no longer in fences).  I am on Win 7 64 bit.   Any suggestions?  I have rebooted and it didn't seem to help.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK, I see I need to turn fences off to get deskscapes to work on XP. But why is it that when I hit the start button, my dream freezes?

As soon as the start panel closes, the dream runs again.   Fences disabled.

This is normal.  We do that to ensure it works correctly with WindowBlinds and semi transparent startmenus.

OK, so now, on Win 7, 64 bit, most recent Deskscapes and Fences Pro, I can't double click and hide my Fences with a dream running.

I think it's a conflict with some other program you got installed   or a reg hack if any

for win 7 users..

i Have Win 7 Home Prem. 64 bit

I had Disable Fullrow Select.reg and it was missing with WB's Explorer Backgrounds so i installed my win 7 Ult 32 bit

on a new Partition and then did impulse then WB's well I got to Disable Fullrow Select.reg and it came back.

so if you have the room and well have a disk of win 7 try it note if you do... make a restore point with every install and name it that program name

EX: I named mine Fullrow Select.

it's just a suggestion to fine out what is conflicting with your DS and F

I did have a hunch it was it but was unable to remove it all from my 7 Home prem. so it;s still conflicts with it but all good on the other one..

If any of you do this post your results here if it's a Program SD will/might beable to fix it .. reg hacks well you on your Owen as it's a hack..

but still post it here so other can know around it...

Hello All,

I am having similar problems as well, even when I use Deskscapes to apply regular wallpapers. It normally fixes itself after a few reboots. In the meantime I just use Winstep to hide the Icons. I'm on Windows 7 (64 Bit) and use a GeForce GTX 460 video card.

I don't think I had this problem when I used an ATI video card, but don't worry, I still had problems. I just had differn't problems then.

OK had the the problem where my fences would not show side scroll bars and i couldn't move fenced icons as a group because there where no fence to drag.

I uninstalled Desk Scapes reinstalled it it worked great for a while, the problem i had, appeared a couple of days ago and I wasn't feeling in the mood to reinstall so i used DSFix.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Object Desktop\DeskScapes3 and guess what it fixed it for me.

BTW i am running 64 bit windows 7 Ultimate with the latest DeskScapes and Fences Pro and Windows updates.
