Demigod vs HoN

Ill be honest, I tried the HoN beta and its fun but I still believe Demigod is better. Even though Demigod has WAY less heros the heros have more skills. Also demigod has the citadel upgrades, flags, gold mines, and the idols. There are basically as many items (if you take the artifacts into account). So with all this why is Demigods community growing smaller and smaller and why do people prefer HoN?

Mhh i think HoN has a perfect Usability. A lot of really nice Features just around the Game. Like the Option to reconnect in a Game if u disc. Demigod has bugs instead ... Invalid Gamestats as example.

HoN is much faster, I would say u have better Options for skillfull Play ... but not sure im not Pro in one of this Games.

The low count of Heroes is really another Problem. The Matchups are offten the same ... .

For the 2 new Heroes, the developer need to much time. Think 20 Heroes for differnt Matchups would be good but at this speed they will be there in earliest 2 years :/.

The Items bought in Demigod are always the same ... HP ... HP ... HP.

I can never buy a dmg item or two because i need the space for Hp items ... that sucks ...

In HoN u can really use different Setups ... .

I like Demigod very much ! I like the style and the concepts (ok locks suck) but i think the game has no chance on the market :(

HoN has as Dota a long Period of Evolution and has so a very nice playable first Version ...

In my oppionion it looks like HoN is, like Counter Strike 1.6, something that a hardcore fanatics want to stay forever because thats the game they rule at. They don't want to try something new.

By looking at the screenshots from HoN it looks like it's Warcraft 3 down to even the smallest details. They basically just added a lot better serverbrowser, and some sort of reputation system.

I don't see why 50 or so heroes is better than 8?  My guess is that in HoN you really only have 3 heroes, and a lot of different graphics for those 3.

Don't even get me started on the lousy graphics in HoN :-D   Of course graphics is not the most important thing in a game, but I don't mind being able to see what is going on. HoN is just a mess.

Demigod could use a better server and matchmaking system, and a reputation system to keep the annoying players away, so I hope they'll head in that direction.

Then why even mention them? you cant compare these with demigod. totally different games. this is a comparison between DG and HoN.

I have seen some High Quality videos of HoN and i am sorry to say this but it is really a shame for a 2009 video game to have such poor graphics. Plus the animation and game play seems about the same as DoTA....

Why someone spend his/her money on a DoTA copy?

I always hated DOTA because of the people who played. With Demigod you can avoid most of the a-holes, and there are (comparitively) a LOT fewer idiots. Ragequitting/Invalid Gamestates aside, the community here is leagues more mature than DOTA.

HoN/LoL have attracted the same community (from DOTA) and I can't stand to play either. :(

Having played both, This games Peer to Peer system turns me away.  almost every game I play lags sadly.

If you play HoN with bros and not play pub games your chances of fun are higher.  Yes blah blah premades suck but whatever.  Its the way to go.

Can't even play with your friends in this game anymore thanks to the new layout

Easy answer, HoN works well, Demigod barely works and is held together by poor netcode and tacked-on overlays.

Most gamers can't even be bothered trying to start a game of Demigod.

Demigod's NetCode is fine, as I've already explained in several other threads where you've made this comment. And you're not in a position to speak for anyone other than yourself, so please refrain from speaking out of your ass.

Demigod has better gameplay. The graphics blow HoN out of the water, the camera is better, and the game focuses much more on actual demigods trading blows, whereas HoN is more about ganks and creep tagging.

However, HoN just works. You can get a game going immediately and you can rejoin if you crash out or disconnect. Demigod has modern gameplay, but HoN has modern stability and connectivity, so it's really hard to issue a final verdict.

Personally I just hate HoN's whole game concept, but playing a single map hundreds of times and waiting for 20-60 minutes on DG games has just gotten old.

Thank God Borderlands is coming out today.

I've paid my money, so I'll get my two pence worth thanks very much.

Not even going to justify this with an answer.

"And you're not in a position to speak for anyone other than yourself, so please refrain from speaking out of your ass."

But being a lackey fanboy qualifies you to say otherwise?  I'll just read the countless threads on the HoN beta forum from people who can't be bothered with the Demigod BS.

technically you only paid for the game itself, not to post of the forums. You couldve actually posted on these forums for free without buying the game.

Well i love Demigod because there are not too much heroes. Yes a little bit more would be better but the SD Team is working on that. If you have 20 heroes, you really have to play for a long time to know how to play, and HoN will have the same problems like DOTA. Unbalanced! Go on like that SD the game gets better and better.

its nice living in a pretend world where gnomes are real, and go play HoN i have the a feeling when the game actually launches and cost money the amount of players is going to drop considerably to go play LoL instead anyway

I enjoy all 3 and have a hard time "picking" one. While I enjoy the pacing of Demigod the most, I feel one of the innate 'flaws' with it is the sky high production value of it's units. It's (understandably) taking them months to come up with 2 more units for DG, where as in the other games it's a much quicker process, partly due to the simpler graphics.

One of the aspects I like with the dota (or "moba" as some are trying to coin it) genre is the silly amount of weird and crazy units. I can honestly live with some balance issues in the same way that Marvel vs Capcom 2 has balance issues yet is still a competitive game - it becomes part of the metagame, as there are enough counters to each issue to keep it fun and interesting.
