Can anyone else duplicate this issue?

the 2 gig ram limit is coming back to haunt us.

Right now i am running a 2 gig dual core laptop with 4 gigs of ram. Its video chips is questionable, but it can use up to 1.5 gigs system ram. I was running 64 bit windows Vista until i got fed up with its flaws. I downgraded back to 32 bit windows XP.

Now after about 1/2 hour of play i get dumps. Modded Sins, Vanilla Sins, It doesnt matter they both dump equally. Though modded games dump sooner. We had an issue before where if Sins thought it was going over 2 gigs of ram it would dump. This issue happened mainly on 32 bit OS's. I thought that issue was fixed with Entrenchment. Though i have 4 gigs of ram windows XP 32 bit cant see more than 3.5 gigs of it.

I experimented with vanilla sins, and modded sins in developer.exe, and found it would dump when my ram usage hit around 2.35 gigs. If i stayed under 2 gigs by reducing the settings to medium or low the game remained stable.

I need confirmation that the old 2 gig ram limit bug still exists for 32 bit OS's Others with a 32 bit OS run sins on max settings while watching your ram usage in your task manager. See if it dumps for you when you go over 2 gigs.

Like i said this was a known issue a while back. I just need to know if it got fixed, or does it still exist.

I've been having a similar problem with my Vista 64 desktop with 6 GB of ram, which I'm fairly sure is due to a RAM overload (though I guess I should check with developer to be sure). My Windows 32 XP laptop has about 2 GB of ram and while it is a lot slower it never dumps. I guess it could my processor but I'm thinking that it probably still exists.

Even with a 64bit OS a 32bit App could not pass the old 32bit RAM limit. That one typically happens at a little over 1.4 GiB of RAM usage (for a single App, thus the total RAM usage would be around 2 GiB).

However, with everything on Max, I can barely push Sins to the 1.4 GiB limit and as you might guess, I've never ever had Sins crash.

Something that might be related to limited RAM - I'm not sure about that - might be that effects stop too early later in the game. I need to move the mouse over the ships in order to have them show their effects again...
