Problems with Fences v1.0

Hey all,

 

So I love fences, tell everyone I know about it, and stopped using deskscapes because it didn't work with fences on Winxp.  Suffice it to say, I think fences rocks.  However, I have two issues goes from beta to v1.0:

1)  Old fences are no longer resizeable/moveable after upgrade.  I tried various things to fix this, but with no luck.  I needed to uninstall and reinstall fences to make it work.

2)  There is no "lock fences" option on right click on desktop.  Was this purposefully removed?  Why???

Hi Trigeminal. Want to send your debug log to "fencesbeta" (at stardock)? Head to the "About" page there there should be a button for "Debug Info" at the bottom. Since you've uninstalled & reinstalled the info might be gone to diagnose what went wrong with the upgrade, but I guess I'll ask, did you install Fences using Impulse? or using the standalone installer?

Regarding "Lock Fences" it got moved - check the "View" menu, you'll find it there

Thanks, that would have driven me insane.  I think they should move the placement, the new location is far from evident.

What problems with you have with it and Deskscapes on Windows 7 64 bit?

I am not aware of any problems with them on that OS.

Sorry, I had issues with deskscapes ond fences running at the same time on XP (original post now edited to reflect this).  I recently upgraded to win7, but have not reordered deskscapes to test it.

On XP, when a deskscape was running the border and often the title for my fences would not be present.  Also playing with fences settings sometimes caused deskscape to show black box with a gradient to a red border along the top and left.
