SYSTEM ISSUES

from Stardock Forums

Alright so I downloaded stardock installed it and picked a skin. Now all my windows icons dont work, non of my microsoft office icons, my pictures. And when i go to control panel. there are no icons, nothing to click on so that i can remove the program.

 

 

PLEASE HELP!!

Stardock is a company and not a software program.  You will need to be more specific on which of the programs that you installed and where did you install them from.  Are they 'trial' programs or did you purchase them?  Are you talking about WindowBlinds?  If you installed WIndowBlinds then open the WindowBlinds Configuration screen and click on System info.  Copy/Paste that info in a comment here.

I downloaded Stardock Mycolors. from https://www.stardock.com/products/mycolors/  The free trial.

If you're running Impulse, you can go to the My Software tab, right click on the MyColors icon and select Uninstall.

Folder Options/ Views: Show Hidden System Files

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local folder: Delete IconCache.db.

Reboot.

Emailed support and they were able to show me how to fix it. 

 

"Please try the following:

-For VISTA Users: click Start, in the start search field type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator'.
For XP Users: Click Start and then Run, Type 'cmd' and hit enter.
-VISTA ONLY: If UAC is enabled, click 'Continue'
-Type: sfc /scannow
-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)
-When the scan has completed, it should give you some feedback as to the result"
