A few questions before jumping in

Greetings windows customizers

I would like to throw a few questions before i make a move to buy, if these had been adressed in the past my sincere apologies, but I wasnt able to find anything due to some troubles on my side of the net, so again sorry sorry sorry

Ok, lets see.

For the best bang for my buck, I would opt for ObjectDesktop ultimate...however, would you please tell me if it DOES include objectdock, taking a quick look I didn saw it listed, what I saw was "objectbar" which I dont know if it includes good ol objectdock, I suppose it does, but, I prefer to clarify.

Other thing I didnt notice was Fences, will it be included in ultimate too?

At the end it can be pretty much resumed to...DOES IT INCLUDE EVERYSINGLE STARDOCK APP???

I'll apreciate the info on this matter, Im waiting to upgrade to windows7, and would like to customize all I can.

Aside of that, will the next version...well, "organized" or centralized if you wish? I liked a lot what <like> what windowblinds, object dock etc brings, but is kindda...annoying to have separate/mixed folders on the START menu and the icon tray. Hope for w7 you can arrange it more "nicely" under a single icon to access the required app.

And last but not least, also try to improve the managment/importing of skins, I read many many times people having troubles with right click and other stuff.

Well, that' s all folks! hope I didnt bothered anyone, just questions I want answered, waiting for 7 to finally show up, and let the FUN begin

It does not include Object Dock Pro, DesktopX Pro, or CursorFX Pro.

It does include FencesPro (when it's released) and there are some free versions of Object Dock, Fences, and CursorFX that are availible.

Ok, after some time, Im back now that things are more mature, release of the new apps versions is closer as well as making my new rig work :)

I do have some extra questions that hasn't seen fully addressed (that Im aware) and others that came to me while browsing and wondering.

As mentioned by CarGuy1 OD ultimate does not include ObjectDock, however looking at it's features I read this:  "  ObjectBar
Design your own Windows desktop bars. Sidebars, finders, docks and more are all possible with ObjectBar.(Supported on Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit & 64-bit)" With that docks in bold...does it means I will be able to use docks created with/for ObjectDock??? I really enjoy my docks, and would be cool if I couls still use them, even if under another "banner ", furthermore, will the docks- tabbed docks- be able to get fully "hiding" until requested? (as in, standard docks can hide when not in use but if you send the cursor to the extreme right, left up they appear, but not so with tabbeds which stay) That would be an awesome extra plus, since I like to have a better organized dock upwards, but dislike having the text tabs showing. If not, hope you can include improvements to ObjectDock.

Another thing that I would like to address  is Blinds 7, or more precisely, SkinStudio; I haven't seen anything outstanding on blinds 7 other than the small video previews to change AERO too...anyway, but something that interests me deeply, is which improvements will come with SkinStudio. Will it be ready to deal equally good with old & new themes??? Furthermore, the creation, EDITION, will be more visual & user friendly? Sort of WYSIWYG ??? That would be a terrific-awesome & useful addition! Specially for rookies like myself struggling to get the stuff well done :) And another extra note about Blinds 7, the integrated Wallpaper manager...no offense guys, but I never liked it; pretty much forcing me to deal with Windows default Walls and not giving me good control on the ones I wanted added. In that respect I would strongly encourage & suggest you guys that for makin that part far better, to take a look at something like WALLPAPER MASTER or Walyk manager, both are quite simple small apps, that offers excellent option to manage the Wallpapers (categories, ratings, intervals, transition fx, etc) I really really REALLY suggest you guys to adpat that stuff from them, it would be very welcomed!

On other areas, I really dont have experience enough to comment, like in SoundPackager how easy could it be to create my own custom sound package, but hopefully guys you'll make it work good. Same with Rightclick, which being totally honest with you guys, dissapointed me, when I put it to test I was expecting customization on ALL right click menus, and as such was a letdown to see it only applied to the desktop contextual menu, again, hopefully (and wish you luck) you can fix that, find a work around so ALL right click menus can be customizable.

Last but not least, the "old" question on being able to animate the BootUp screen, or maybe even better, to "mix" boot & log on screen, for making'em a...a..."continual & complementing" experience.

That would be all for now guys, hope to get your answers soon, see ya later :)

annoying to have separate/mixed folders on the START menu
End of quote

You can organize the start menu folders

In XP go to

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

And

C:\Documents and Settings\ YOUR NAME\Start Menu\Programs

Open 2 windows side by side then just drag and drop and you can make new folders

In Win 7 go to Note you can do it the same as XP….

C:\Users\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

And

C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Start Menu\Programs

NOTE: you have to click on Organize (top left under the back arrow)

Then click on Folder and Search Options (New window will open)

Then click on View tab then click on Show hidden files, folders and drives (the 8th one down)

Then Un-check Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended) (the 11th one down)

Hit Apply then Ok

NOTE 2: You have to have Owner ship to even open the folder

END

does it means I will be able to use docks created with/for ObjectDock???
End of quote

No you can only use OD or OD+ skins for OD you can get the free OD or the + for $19.95

END

furthermore, will the docks- tabbed docks- be able to get fully "hiding" until requested?
End of quote

only the Tile and zoomer docks can complete hide the tabb dock hide but the tabs show

set the tabb dock as Show dock as drawer  under Positioning

END

SkinStudio is for making WB skins or editing them

END

open WB go to wallpaper tab click on setting un-check the ones you do not want WB to look at

you can also ADD new folder  and can sort them with a star ratting

Actually, there's a much easier way to organize your start menu: You can get it free at Winstep.net

The tabs can also be set to hide by unselecting "Tabs always on top" from a right click on the tabbed bar. (although sometimes they misbehave!)

If you do go for the Object Desktop, you usually get a discount for OD Plus and Cursor FX plus. (I did! was 20% off)

Then there's this:

On December 2, 2009, Object Desktop and Object Desktop Ultimate will be merged into Object Desktop. Users with Object Desktop Ultimate will get a full year added to their account (so now is the ideal time to pick up Object Desktop Ultimate).

yes they will hide like that but you have to click on show desktop and as soon as you open something they re-show

so they realy dont hide till you want them to show.

Thanks guys for all the replies, very welcome

Guys, is there a reason ObjectDock & Cursor FX are not bundled in ULTIMATE???

Cause that's sad, that 2 of the apps Im more interested are out while other stuff I couldn't care less (ej RightClick) is bundled   X(

Now, with the official announce in WINCUSTOMIZE, I noticed the claim that WB7 will be able to "auto convert" old XP skins-if it is indeed the case, readdressing my previous inquiry; Is there improvement in SkinStudio for editing/improving ala WYSIWYG ???? I HOPE SO!!!   :D

Meanwhile let me express my vote & support for improvement of ObjectDock, it's quick release & fix the tabs stuff

Finally, in this last minutes a question popped in my mind, remembering a certain "detail", concerning the icon management, it is pretty much awesome, however 1 time that i was playing with iconpackager to customize icons and that, I discovered (sadly) that when I wanted to change individual drives or folders, I wasn't allowed to, like with the HDD partitions, if I wanted to change the icon it had to be the same for all partitions or no change, that was sad, I already had a "Death Star in construction" icon for my WORK partition

Hope that changes too.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can change individual Icons with Iconpackager HERE"S how:

Open Iconpackager click on the tab (at the top) Icons & Cursors

then choose one of the sub tabs (Desktop, Start, Folders, Etc.)

then on the Icon you want to change RIGHT CLICK it. then click on Change Icon.

A new window will open... Find the Icon you want to change it to and click on it. then click on OK.

When done with changing the Icons to the ones you want click on Apply Changes..

NOTE to change the Hard Drive Icons Individualy (Example I have 2 but one is Partitioned in half each one has it's owen Icon)

Here's how to do that:

Open Mycomputer Right Click on one of your HD's Click on Properties New window will open click on the tab ICON.

then click on Change Icon a new window will open put the icon you want hit OK that window will close. then click Apply then OK.

done.
