and i don't know how to fix it, when i change the icon on the shortcuts to another icon it seems to show up but when i want to use the icon that was there before i installed the newest version of fences it won't show and looks like the icon "flashget" on the desktop in this picture below...

right click on the icon in fences > propeties > change icon

not sure what you mean - or maybe it's different than on xp

i can go into programs, find the exe and change it - when i do it also changes the shortcut on fences

if i right click the short cut on fences i can change it without changing the one in programs

but either way i go in, my propeties window doesn't show anything in the 'start in' box

the .exe in the middle of the picture doesn't show the icon in the folder but when i right click on it to view the properties the icon shows up on the properties page... this has happened to a few other .exe files on my computer that are in the program folders

have you sent a ticket to support?

yeah, I know you posted in 'support' but it's mostly user based support, though they do drop by once in a while

I'm running xp and the only time I see those type of 'icons' is when i get a glitch with iconpackager

We see this issue more commonly with IconPackager, but I guess it's possible that Fences could cause the same. Most likely imageres.dll is messed up for some reason, and needs to be fixed.  You can do this by running an SFC scan, details here:

sfc /scannow will usually do the trick.
