Multiplicty 1.22 stops on restart Vista x64

Recently purchased Multiplicity for use w/ a Vista x64 primary and Windows XP SP2 secondary.Works great after install from the Impulse installer until the Vista machine is restarted.

Once the box is restarted, I can no longer move the cursor or use hotkeys to switch to the secondary machine. The troubleshooting wizard, used on either machine, just taunts me by telling me that it can connnect to the other machine w/ no problems.

The workaround is to uninstall and reinstall from the Impulse application on the Vista machine.

Does anyone know of a more permanent solution? Are there settings w/in Vista that may be causing a service to not start properly?

Thanks for the support.

I have the same problem, Vista 64 to XP SP3. I haven't tested whether it works after rebooting but I had configured the Master PC first and then configured the secondary and I could never get it to work. Even though the Troubleshooting wizard told me it could successfully connect to the Secondary machine.

Stardock, any ideas?

Try doing this from a command prompt on your primary:

telnet ip_of_secondary 30564

You'll need to have the telnet client installed if you're on Windows Vista/7. This is installed by default on XP. To enable telnet for Windows Vista/7:

1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
2. Select Programs.
3. From the menu of the left, select Turn Windows Features On or Off.
4. Scroll down, and then check the "Telnet client" box.
5. Click OK.

Does this give you any kind of a response, or does it fail to connect? If you get the latter, it will be either because something is blocking communication over that port or because the Multiplicity service is not running on the secondary. For the most basic communication to occur, you will need the system tray icon (multipl.exe) running on the primary and the service (multisrv32.exe) running on the secondary. You will also need the system tray icon (multipl.exe) running on the secondary if you wish to have file sharing capabilities.

The services are accessible by going to Start->Run (Or Start->Start Search in Vista) and typing:

services.msc

Look for the service named "Stardock Multiplicity"

-If the service is not started, start it.
-If you don't see the service in this list, follow this link in Internet Explorer, save the file and run it:

If you're still having a problem at this point, please follow this link in Internet Explorer, save the file and run it on your primary and any secondaries:

http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/enumerate_mpp_settings.bat

and send me the log file generated on each machine's desktop at support@stardock.com

Thanks
