Anyone else in South Africa playing Demigod?

Anyone else in South Africa playing Demigod?

Have been playing with a friends copy (offline) for a few weeks and decided to buy the game. I love DG however it seems that I won't be able to play this online as every game I join I get kicked due to high pings (500 or so).

Is there anyone else from SA who bought the game (perhaps a group of people) who play on a semi-regular basis?

I understand that "packet loss" & strange "deposits" on your desktop are drawbacks to PTP though...

Im from South Africa. Im new to Demi god online and I am also having the same ping related issues. I would really like to play a game online with others from SA

Welcome M8!

We're trying to organise some games, time is always the issue though :(

Yeah, we really need to try and get some local games going. When would suit you Nocturnksm?

I also have a buddy, Av_ who is local so that makes 5.

I can play with UB, Oak, Erebus, The Rook and Sedna and I'd say I'm average. Would love to play more strategically (i.e. with someone as opposed to almost always with an unknown).

Oh btw guys, you need to try out Ready to Play. Under Preferences in Impulse, select the 'Beta versions' checkbox. Then go to the 'My Games' tab and install it. This will allow us to see each other even when not in the game (which is currently a huge problem for me) as long as the Ready to Play client is open (so basically like another IM app). I suggest everyone here install it and keep it running, this way we can at least communicate in real time without having to be in the game.

Looking forward to organising a few local games :)

Hey Nocturnksm, Please setup Ready to Play so that we can all easily connect with each other :-)

Will do ASAP. About what time or day are you guys on. The only problem I have is that I have the game installed on a different drive. So when I use Impulse to launch the game it installs it. But if I manually open it. It works. Will this affect the ready to play option?

Ready to Play is open on my home PC 24/7 however I usually only look at playing Demigod after 8pm in the evenings (and usually only during the week).

Mmm, that sounds strange, I have Demigod installed to D:\Games\Demigod and it works flawlessly (through Impulse or the Game Shortcut) for me. Perhaps trying reinstalling the game again, your Demigod info is kept in the 'My Games' folder under your Documents, backup before reinstalling to keep your settings and Single Player stats.

I'm not sure, it may as I think R2P launches Demigod automatically. Have you tried it out yet? Oh btw, I've sent you a friend request :)

It doesn't...

All it does is allow people to find each other & organise games :)

Sorry I missed you folks on Friday... I only checked my mail Saturday morning :(

How did it go & how many people were there?

p.s. I'll install R2P tonight, had a really bad storm last night...

Yeah was cool playing with and against you Cranzy. Just sucked in the vs. u game I had someone on my side that was seemingly totally new to the game :-p

Me and 2 friends will be playing tonight.

Depending who is online tonight ... we might be able to do a 3v3 game .. or maybe even a 4v4 ..

Damn, wish I had read this sooner. Been really busy this week unfortunately. Keep me informed though.

It is not available to all. you can goto the ready to play section on the impulse website .. you will need to register .. and if you are lucky .. you will get a key..

So no - not everybody will be able to get this - even if they wanted to ...

Man last night was bad for Demigod connectivity. I spent about 35 minutes trying to find a game, even tried hosting one myself however my connection to others last night was terrible (more so than usual). Any other SA players experience the same thing last night or recently?

IS is my ISP, I have a 4Mbit line and the net in general seemed fine (not slow or lossy etc.) however I just could not for the life of me find a single game to join :( Also, trying to join and leave games left me staring at a seemingly frozen front-end for what seemed like ages. Had to 'end task' Demigod more than once last night as a result.

Ended up playing a skirmish game against 3 Nightmare AI on Cataract as Oak just to satisfy my Demigod itch. Was fun but obviously not as challenging or interesting as it could have been had I played against people...

Are you sure this applies if you go through the process as I have described through Impulse?

Did you also get 5 "extra" Beta keys KRayner?

If someone (in SA) hasn't got a Beta key send, me a PM & your e-mail address & I'll send you the mails I got from SD telling you how to install & one of my "extra" keys...

Or go have a look at https://www.stardock.com/products/readytoplay/regrtp.asp & use one of the keys...

*while stocks last...

Hey, well I just accessed the Beta through the Impulse system, had a look now and don't see where I would find out (I don't recall if I got an email).
