Fences and IconX

longtime IconX user wants to use Fences too!

I've been using IconX for years.  I like several of the options you get with that product.

Now Stardock comes up with "Fences", and I look at that and think "cool! I'd like those features too", so I download and install Fences.

It comes up and says it's going to create a couple of standard fences, which it says it has done, but no fences appear on my desktop, and when I rightclick on the desktop, no Fences options appear.

Of course, IconX is loaded, and if I unload IconX my fences appear, but now I no longer have my cool IconX features!!

Here we have two simple desktop enhancements, both created by Stardock, and both having complimentary (not mutually exclusive) features.  WHY CAN'T THEY WORK TOGETHER??

Please help!  Stardock, I love your products, but isn't it a no-brainer that desktop enhancements from the same company ought to work together -- be aware of one another?  Do your developers work on remote islands and never communicate with one another?

Unfortunately, Fences and IconX operate in the same portion of the Windows Desktop.  These applications simply will not be compatible.

I've used IconX for years, it's a great program. But, it's never going to work on Vista, plus I've switched to Fences anyway. My desktop is much cleaner now.

I'm sorry, these responses don't cut it.

Desktop enhancement products from Stardock, which offer complementary features, ought to work together.

Saying "they operate in the same portion of the Windows desktop" is as much as to say "we encountered some difficulty and were too lazy to figure it out".

Actually it's more like if you were trying to run WindowBlinds and some other skinning app at the same time.  You can do one or the other, but not both, as they both change the same thing.
