My response to Istari blocking pacovs thread ...

Quoting Istari in pacovs thread

"Reading through this thread really does make clear why Brad stopped participating in these forums.

If you don't like Demigod or think it is "broken" then don't play it.  As far as we are concerned, Demigod is a good game that works well. It isn't perfect but no game is and Gas Powered Games continues to work to make it better and Stardock too has worked very hard to make the game better as well.

Users who think that their purchase of a video game entitles them to be abusive, rude, and obnoxious on the forums are not welcome in our community.

I am locking this thread."

BUT, pacovs thread gave us a voice that may have been heard (as it was said that frogboy suggest we take this approach). Okay, there r the few immature ppl but there are those that rlly wanna help. So in the end its those who r willing to help that lose out in the end because their suggestions are going unheard.

If you don't like Demigod or think it is "broken" then don't play it.

Maybe say "if you dont like playing demigod, then ask for a refund". I dunno if its a matter of money or if its for customer satisfaction, but wat i do know is that the most important thing to achieve is customer satisfaction. I think a way to satisfy long term customers is to repond to them, and communicate more frequently. Also, acknowledge those that post in the ideas section. Those are the ppl that are enthusiastic about the game.

As far as we are concerned, Demigod is a good game that works well.

Yes it may be, but as far as im concerned, you're making the game for the customers not urselves. So if theres a common complaint/concern, obviously it needs to be worked on.

It isn't perfect but no game is and Gas Powered Games continues to work to make it better and Stardock too has worked very hard to make the game better as well.

Im glad to hear it. Patience is a virtue. People arent perfect, so their patience has its limits also.

Users who think that their purchase of a video game entitles them to be abusive, rude, and obnoxious on the forums are not welcome in our community.

I completely agree. However that being said, we are entitled to OUR opinion. No matter how it's said, it still needs to be taken into consideration. Not blocked. Locking threads is an easy option and is a form of ignorance. It may suggest to us you're not actually willing to face the issue with us, but stay against us. And those that feel strongly about their 'say' will go ahead and post another thread.

If you dont like some of the posts because they are abusive, rude, and obnoxious, ignore them but at least give the people who are comin across in a positive and civil manner some time and an avenue to be heard.

I am locking this thread.

Does this mean you wont answer our questions?

An online game is only as strong as its customer base, so if you dont support the positive ppl that rlly wanna help this game, then you subsequently have no game.

Block this thread if you want, but that will answer ALL my questions.

I agree with the locking to a degree - however I believe they could have also just removed the troublesome posts as the thread was a response to Brad's suggestion and was useful. Having said that, Pacov has already posted the list so it's not really an issue any more.

The problem isn't people having an opinion that Stardock might not like to hear - the problem is the way those opinions are presented, the attitudes of people who convey them and the unfounded "ZOMG DEMIGOD IS TEH DYING!1!1" we've all seen in other communities. The difference here is that it's not tolerated, which is why I like it here.

That, and because people like gkrit, Pacov and melon are here. :inlove:

lol thx man.

yes, ideally it would be good to have EVERYONE present their issues forward in a civil manner, but i dont think thats realistic in todays world. Its in an indiviuals personality/nature that determines how they will come across when presenting their dilemma.

so it rlly does depend on the tolerance level on the other end.

You are entitled to your opinion but on our forums we are entitled to decide what opinions get posted or not.

Someone's purchase of a $40 game does not give them the right to be insulting or abusive to us.

Anyone who is familiar with Stardock knows that we have a very thick skin. We have open beta programs after all which are no holed barred. We like input from players. But pointless bitching isn't input, it's just venting.

I had a sick feeling when I saw the thread locked, but after taking a moment I can definately say it was not without reason.  There are some really, really frustrating posts in that thread.  I think my eyes have gotten used to just skipping over posts that annoy me. :)

I agree with ZehDon - the purpose of the thread was to give a place to voice, and it would be nice if pacov's second thread was moderated by deleting posts that are off-topic, or just ignored.  After all, Pacov's hard work of compiling a list is so that Stardock can hear their communities questions without having to sift through everything.  We do respect your voice, Istari..and the thought that SD employees can respond repeatedly in a calm, professional - but defensive - manner is to be admired. :)

That all having been said..it is not healthy for moderator issues to be discussed on the same public forum.  We should keep our thoughts to ourselves, or PM the appropriate people.  I think what's said needs to be said, and this thread should probably be locked.
