Demigod needs windows 7 support

Windows 7 will be out in about a month, and is already available to OEMs, and right now demigod won't install without running it in compatibility mode, and even then there are an inordinate number of crashes. I think this will come up really quickly once OEMs start selling comps with windows seven installed. I could never get it to run reliably on the RC, and the full release is almost here.

Many people at Stardock play Win7 x64 all the time on Demigod. It's our preferred setup really.

End of Istari's quote

It's my prefered setup for everything on my system at the moment ;)

There's a huge difference though. Just because lots of people, including me, run it well on Win7, doesn't mean everyone does. And that's why support is asked for, although there's no real "demand" to speak of.

True but the topic name is "demigod needs windows 7 support" which it does but it already has. He then proceeds to claim that demigod needs to get ready to work on W7 which it already does. I'm sure most of us are willing to help him but he should have just made a topic in Demigod Technical Problems  or whatever the forum is called an make a topic called "demigod crashes and incompatibility on windows 7". I'm sure he will get the help he needs then. I'm pretty convinced it's not a windows 7 problem (specifically) at all, just an unfortunate combination of factors which most problems are.

It's the RC.

My brother is running DG on win7 no problems.... Except the soundcard drivers are not entirely compatable, and the sound has a little distortion while running Demigod.

Apart from that, less crashes, better simspeed.....

I'm currently running it on win7 with no problems other than with my asus d2x soundcard crashes sometimes with a sound loop if I enable it's GX capabilities.

It freezes on launch at this point...I managed to get it installed, but...nah, still won't play. Needs to be updated too...it's for a lan, so my roomate can play me...he likes the look of the game, and I can run it on my spare comp (well, it should...all the specs are fine). Not sure which downloads on the anywhere.demigod.com site I need to update it with either...but that's another story.

I think it may be drivers on your end. Win 7 is not 100% yet so some drivers are not right yet.

For a lan there should be no probs really, but then again just about all LAN fests becomed in reality a PATCH fest.

My recommendation:

Install winXP on a spare HDD and DG too, unplug yr win7 HDD and simply plug in the xp one when U wanna play.

Hard drives are cheap as chips, so have a spare OS handy for scenarios like this IMHO.

Err if you want to do that just make a dual boot, why on earth unplug cables??

Or do that.... my dumb bro

Bottom line: Demigod works on Windows 7. :)
