Dear devs: Please "fix" Random

Dear devs: Please "fix" Random

I keep running into situation when players choose a DG, then everyone hits ready, and at the last 2nd they switch to Random trying to be stealthy, knowing they will 9/10 get a double.  (you know who you are)

Saying "it was Random....it's legit" is a piss poor way to hide behind trying to get an advantage.

Is it that tough to do a check for an existing selected DG, then not pick them?

Thanks.

PS.  This specific persons can suck it if I RQ after seeing that s*it when the game starts (I won't join your games again).  I don't mind all Random games, or having the courtesy to ask the rest of the players if it's cool for a Random, but trying to "sneak it in" ain't cool.

I support having separate options for Random and Random (No Double). Whenever possible try to please both camps IMO, and this way people who don't think doubles are a problem can still use random as easily as people who do think it is a problem can use Random (No Doubles).

Agreed.  And because doubles are simply an issue that we all don't agree on, flaming people for going random to get an advantage that the OP perceives is a bit uncalled for.  Host your own games with an appropriate title or ask the host to restrict random usage and there really shouldn't be any issues appeasing both camps in the meantime.  Just be a good sport about it... if the coding is a simple change, maybe we could see that implemented.  I doubt its simple though as it requires adding menu buttons instead of just adjusting logic, but I really don't know.

Adding a new menu item won't take much time.  IMO the most time will be spent on the logic, which unfortunately does change a bit because now it matters who we evaluate first as Random's should have their demigods chosen before Random (No Double)'s do.  This is desirable because if Random selects an unused demigod (say, TB), Random (No Doubles) will not consider TB a valid choice.  However, if a Random (No Doubles) selects an unused TB a later Random might happen to spin TB producing a double.

random is random.

doubles is not a problem.

get over it.

I'm not entirely certain that the random seeding that DG uses is actually random.

What patterns have you observed?

Namely, when I add an AI on normal, remove the AI, and then re-add it, 4/5 times it will be the same DG. Not sure if that means anything. Anyone else notice this? I'd think it would be random each time you add an A.I.
