No Buttons in Chrome?

not the quoting issue

I have a fairly new (week or so) computer running an OEM Vista Ultimate.  I installed Google Chrome, but when using this browser, there are a number of features outright missing from this forum.  I am aware that there is a problem with the 'Quote' button not working properly in Chrome, but for me this button and several others are simply not there.  This includes the Reply, Edit, RSS, and Create Post (for making a new thread) buttons.

Am I missing some update of any kind?  I made sure I have Java and Flash.  Any suggestion as to why I might be having this issue?

Slap me if I sound condescending but are you logged in properly? All those buttons are directly connected to being logged in afaik. If you are, is there some compatibility mode in Chrome maybe?

I am posting right now in Chrome. Line breaks in my post don't carry into the actual post, and there are none of aforementioned buttons, nor is there rich text font options. The OS on my new computer is 64 bit. Might that have something to do with it?

also, emoticons in other peoples' posts only show up as broken images

If you are running WindowBlinds open it up and under Settings select Change the look of an app and exclude Google Chrome from being skinned and see if that corrects it.

I'm not running Blinds or any other Stardock product at the moment.

Nope - I run Vista Ultimate 64 at home with IE 7 and it is fine.

At my new job I have IE7 (on XP) and I have issues clicking on some threads to view latest - I get a very small horizontal scroll bar showing... Weird

IE8 has everything on this forum as it should. That's how I was able to make this thread to begin with, despite the button not being there at all when using Chrome. It's only with Chrome that I am seeing these issues (or 'not seeing' as the case may be).

I would suggest uninstalling it, running a clean up program like CCleaner (make sure there are no loose parts left) reboot and then reinstalling it.  I guess it is possible that the download got messed up.

You might try thier site and see if there any known conflicts with programs that you are running.  Verily that the version of Java and Flash are what is needed to run.

Here is another thought, people who run into problems with SD programs sometimes have changed the DPI that the computer is running at, have you changed it from 96 DPI?

I think it's the way the forums is set up vs the way chrome is wired

they said before, they weren't going to code for all browser compatibility

try the stardock forums in ie6 - you get 6-8 rows of repeating buttons

AFAIK....currently the forums support IE7 & 8, Firefox 2 to current release version and Opera (8 to current rel I think)

I expect you won't see Chrome support until they have enough market share to make it worthwhile from Stardock's POV.

I use Chrome and the only difficulty for me is the quote button. I've got version 2.0 (well, 2.0.172.39).

only quote, can post as normal.

I don't think it's anything wrong with Stardock's forums. I just want to know what I'm missing here that these buttons don't show up.

Chrome currently has more market share than Opera and Safari combined http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

Overall Chrome does look like it is being use by more and more folks.  I wonder what  the stats are for these forums?

2 different sites. Stardock made the site compatible for Opera before there was a Google browser. Version 3 on W3schools only has 0.3% market share.....which do you program for?

I'm sure they will eventually address the Chrome bugs but I doubt it's a current priority for the forums.

Chrome doesn't even show up on SDN's stats but opera and safari does.

I didn't say it is a problem with their forums. I said more than once in this thread that I think it's something that I am missing on my computer.

I know it's for a different site, but it's still a fairly good indication of the overall market share.  Chrome isn't a minor browser.  (Version 3 of Chrome is the beta, not the release, which is why it is only 0.3% on that site.)

That Chrome doesn't show up on SDN's stats could simply mean that they don't track for it. (where can you find these stats, btw?)

Under Chrome's options menu, I'd look at the site-specific settings for web content, including rules on enabling and disabling certain features relating to Java and JS.  If only Chrome 2 had such settings.  If only Chrome 3 had such settings.

Short of an interface in your browser to define how (or if) it displays such potentially unsafe content such as java-driven editors on web forums, I would send a gmail over to the Google people and ask them to make their browser mildly compliant with what the W3C folks might consider to be the more important standards (or 'best practices').  It would be a lot easier to do that than to start forum posts on every site that Chrome can't render correctly.

I would hope that google is more aware of the short comings of their browser than us lay people are though...

*edit*

but hey chrome itself has a cool little feature that I just noticed for reporting bugs or broken web sites. Its under the "control current page" menu. Which is the ..umm..little dog-eared paper button next to the wrench...to the right of the address bar. Dangit using the cute little pictures for buttons instead of words like "file, edit, tools, etc" makes communication harder :P

This isn't a Chrome problem, I'd have to say it's a problem with his computer.

I'm using Chrome and I don't have a single problem.

Strangly, the buttons are all here now. I have no idea why. (i did have Chrome on my previous computer and everything worked fine there as well)

Anyone know what parameters need to be added to the quote tag to display the author? I'm using Chrome and I've been typing in tags by hand.
