No: there isn't even an alpha at this point.

The beta is scheduled to start in September.

I really wish they would remove "June 2009" as being the start of the public beta on the main page. So, misleading!

aww thanks guys.. and come on stardock give us the alpha to play and give feedback on sooner, why wait till september sheesh.. we know what alpha and beta means.. we wanna see whats there and give feedback on what we like an dont like and tell ya of bugs while we are at it.. come on please please...

admittingly september is not that far away now.  I mean, compared to the wait so far.

I want to note Salaena, if this is like previous Stardock Betas' there will only be certain time frames available to get into the beta.   So you'll be in right away, but in theory if you purchased x months into the beta time frame, it might be during one of the 'down times' between major betas and have to wait for the next major round to join.

They really need to fix the advertised date on this, yeah.

Because the game isn't even far enough along to be called alpha / beta yet?  :P

Edit:  There was a quote from soemone the other day about how if they spend 4 years on this game, 3 and a half years of that time will be the time spent buildling the technology; only 6 months would be actually turning that technology into a game.

Scarily, I believe that because it matches perfectly with what I'm seeing in my classes.

There was indeed such a quote from the big Frog himself, in this post about questions for the August FAQ...

Quoting Frogboy,

If a game takes say 3 years to make, 2.5 years of that time will be spent on the underlying tech. The lsat 6 months spent putting that tech together into a working "game".  That is where we are now, taking the techs and integrating them together.

They do need to fix the front page though.

I pre-ordered this at the same time that I pre-ordered Demi-God (read: quite some time ago).

But I don't see anywhere in my account settings or anything that it acknowledges my pre-order.

Is there a way to see that information?

Or is it just one of those situations where I should take it on faith that somewhere the computers remember?

Uncharged preorders are just queued up for the sales department; nothing is actually linked to your Impulse account until it gets charged. If you want to doublecheck it, contact sales@stardock.com.

I think most people here understand your enthusiasm.
