WindowBlinds and Vista Aero Scrollbar

Hi;

  I'm trying out the trial Windowblinds/SkinStudio 6.4 under Vista Ultimate 64-Bit SP2.

  My initial goal is to start with the basic "Windows Aero" style and simply change the color of the Scrollbar "Drag Bar". (Plain old Vista doesn't appear to let you do this).

  Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, it appears that Windowblinds isn't going to let me do this either...

  (Starting with the "Visual Style" set to "Windows Aero", clicking on "Change Visual style color" results in a pop-up saying that this feature doesn't work in the trial version. After dismissing this screen,  I now see the 'Change colors in Skin' window, but this has the message "You can not recolour this skin".

  That makes me think that even in the non-trial version, "Change System Colours"  won't work. Is that correct?).

  My next thought was to to use SkinStudio to alter the "drag bar" color, but clicking on "Edit in SkinStudio" (while Windows Aero is selected) doesn't seem to do anything. This leads me to believe that you can't use Windows Aero as a 'starting point" for modifications.

  So, is there any way to start with the basic Windows Aero style and make changes from there? If not, is there a WindowBlinds "Visual Style" (that I can use as a starting point) that is very close to the default Windows Aero?

 Thanks;

Editing Aero isnt done with SKS or WB...you would have to use a resource hacker like reshack.

To do it with SKS and WB you can either build a skin from scratch to look how you want or DL one of the many Aero clones and alter it to suit yourself.

Any windowblinds skin can be altered with WB config for quick things like recoloring or text settings...pretty versatile really.

More extensive mods need SkinStudio.

I never used trial versions but I imagine they are feature limited and might not allow you to do certain things...last I heard,trial WB would only apply the skins that came with it.

BE warned...changing just the scrollbars could lead to full scale skinning...it addictive. :D

To answer your question:

There is an Aero-like skin called "Diamond" that you can use. With the exception that the taskbar is altered, it's nearly identical to Aero.

Actually the trial version of WB has never just applied the themes that come with it.  The XP version of the trial will only use per pixel with the included skins, but even that will still apply any other skin (without the per pixel frames).

D'oh! Hate it when I'm wrong...a perpixel limitation for downloaded skins on XP...me had forget. :D
