Ranking Request: Remove Custom games from the Ladder

Because of Pre-made teams and AI matchups custom games should not count towards Ladder Ranking.

The Demigod Ladder should be a clear example of which players in the Demigod community are the best among us. Unfortunately, this ranking table is skewed sharply by the inclusion of custom matches as of the latest patch.

People who play custom games can easily determine who to play with or against. Pre made teams on Ventrilo and Teamspeak who have practiced endless hours will have a significant advantage over completely new players who join their matches... only to be humiliated and feel abused. Players can further improve their ranking by choosing AI opponents on either team and mass killing them for more Favor, Experience or Gold for upgrades and items.

If we want a stable ladder system that truly expresses the ability of its players, then matchups counted should be fair ones. Custom matches are simply too prearranged in order to be considered a legitimate part of a ranking system.

Thus, I formally request that Custom matches be removed from the Ladder Ranking system.

Custom games are currently the most popular game play method.  Regardless of that, farming or pick and choosing is just as likely and just as easy in matchmade games, such as the Pantheon.  You do not have to restrict what counts toward the ladder, it just need to be applied accurately.

As is, the only tangible thing being applied to ladder ranking seems to be number of games played along with win ratio.  A normal ladder would take in to account the ranks of the people played against, which would simply solve most imagined problems in the ladder.

I disagree because of afore-mentioned reasons.

Custom games should not count towards Ladder Ranking.

Any imbalances in Pantheon and Skirmish ranking systems should also be addressed. I have one such post on AI usage here:

some mistakes in your post:

 

custom games were included in ladder before the 1.1 patch too.

 

bashing noobs gets way less experience than playing against pros.

 

playing against AI doesn´t count into statistics.

The stats are broken. While it is true that beating a higher ranked opponent will get you more XP and vice versa, being low ranked doesn't mean you're a noob and being high ranked doesn't make you a pro.

I'm not talking about a full AI match. I'm talking about people who add AI to both sides of the match.

Signed, Custom games should not count towards Ladder rank. That should be the difference between 'Ladder' and 'Overall' stats.

The fact that Custom Games are included in ladder rank pretty much removed any interest on my part to improve my ladder rank. Why bother when they can avoid losses by stacking their games in their favor either by dropping if they are losing or setting up premade teams versus anyone that shows up. Versus playing Skirmish and Pantheon where the higher you rank is the more screwed you are when it comes to who you are paired with. This was somewhat manageble in Pantheon but my recent Skirmish games have really sucked. So much so that I ended up playing Diablo 2 over the weekend while waiting for the next Pantheon.
