No new maps to downlaod yet and no more unlockable demigods at the moment either.

That said they are bringing out out two new demigods for free not sure about maps though.

They're working on something for the maps. Either they will make more maps or will also give us a map editor.

See the other map editor thread.

And yeah I'm hoping we see some more official maps centred around 3v3.

I think theres a bit of customisation on the current maps that is possible without transforming the gr2 rigs too. Cataract in particular could be drastically changed by moving structures, portals and flags around.

For example, move the citadels into the corners and have a double creep portal in the other corners. Or swap the citadel with one of the corner portals and have the central creeps run directly down the centre while the other creeps go directly down the side before curling into the enemy citadel (creeps hitting towers instead of hitting each other right from the start.). Or add an archer tower to the corner towers that are first to fall...theres a lot of options.

As i said in the other thread, you can change this using the lua files. If we can figure out how to render gr2 files in a more friendly program then we will be able to change all of this stuff without huge issue.

They have a 2 year contract on demigod, where they will be bringing updates to the game and it's content, if I'm not mistaken :)

They got one year contract, and contract for 2 demigods. After they are done with the DG's we will see slow down in support, they will make a patch or two, but after a year they will dump this game like yesterdays ho. No new maps, no new demigods, unless there will be an expansion pack.

Hey there, you seem to be from the future. So how are things there anyway?

dont be so pessimistic

if the community grows after solving the connectivity problems, there could be a longer support for DG.

after 2 new DGs for free, there will be more new DGs and maps for $$$, if enough people will buy that, it could be lucrativ for GPG to support the game over years....

Don't be so optimistic lol :). The truth lies somewhere between. I will be glad if your happy rainbow future comes true, because I have purchased the game and I want that to happen, but yeah, I guess I'm just pessimistic about it :P.

The community will only grow if we get a map editor.

Oh ok. It seems like the way they said it that the extra gods were already built into the game. Thats how the manual made it out to be. either way its a fun game and I am happy.

It will grow if the game ramins fun and or gets competative a map editor will help but it is not needed.

Moar DGs and maps will be a nice refreasher along the way, but theres no need for a map editer atm. They're crazy detailed and maps from a map editer are usually bland. I just can't see one working well enough.

There isn't going to be a map editor that the average user can use to make a completely new map from scratch. Ever. This isn't warcraft 2, it doesnt work with a tileset. You can change the way the current maps work by editing the lua files, as synapsis and I have been doing today with success. It is unlikely there will ever be a way to import your own mesh into the game to use as the level mesh because it's in a proprietary closed format not many people are familiar with, this will most likely either come from GPG/SD, or not at all.

I really do think we need some more maps for 3v3, this is the most played game mode by a mile and theres only prison and cataract. Fortunately Cataract is quite versatile as a mesh, so it can be shaped into a very different map by rearranging what is on it. I'm hoping there will be a facility built into the lobby at some point to transfer map scripts across so we can play custom layouts easily. Though at the same time, there are also going to be a torrent of crap layouts people will make, so its a two edged sword there.

EDIT: http://gr2decode.altervista.org/download.html

if anyone with 3DSMax knowledge wants to try to get something into the game, try the plugin there.

Here is some stuff that we tried with that during the beta: http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=31580

While maps can technically be exported, they do not export correctly due to only being in Granny 6 format instead of Granny 7. They don't grab the textures correctly methinks. Plus, all that we have is the very first beta map editor.

a small 1vs1 map would be nice !

This is Stardock, they are reknowned for their support for games and patches. If there is any community what so ever after a year, Stardock will more than likely still try to pay for patches and additional content. And although GPG does not HAVE to make anything else after a year, who would turn down easy money.

Prison works pretty well for 1v1, as does Crucible.
